Grey horse with pink nose

I have a grey horse that does have a pink nose and wondered does anyone else have any other way to avoid them getting a sunburnt nose other than suncream? Have seen some people that find just suncream doesnt work, but the only other thing I can think of is a nose mask type thing that attaches to the headcollar/bridle. But then he'd have to wear his headcollar in the field and I know not many people agree with that either.

Should I just put a full fly mask on, get a nose mask or just constantly put on suncream? Dont want him getting sunburnt obviously, and if it comes to suncream the people at the stables can put it on for me during the day when I am at work. Just thinking of what might be easier for everyone and keep him protected. Thanks

Why don't you try the sunscreen that comes in stick form. It's thicker and stays on longer

Inky has a pink nose, get's burnt very easy! I have a white nose net for her bridle and when she's out in the field and the sun is harsh, she wears a fullface UV Fly mask, covers past her nose.
At my yard they come in for a couple hours in the day anyway, usually when the sun is at it's highest, so it's not a huge problem.

Tried suncream on the nose, wipes off too quickly and she hates having it put on!

My cob has a full white face, I can get away with just factor 50 on his nose, but he wears an earless (he's a bit sensitive!) fly mask to protect the skin around his eyes, and particlarly his tear duct/sclera? As they are pink as well.
I would think a full face fly mask would cover most areas, don't forget the lower lip if that is pink skinned as well!
Eta, try 'sunguard' by gold label, it doesn't rub off quickly and goes on easily if you warm it up first!

I've got one of the nose masks for my girl, and she wore it all last summer with her headcollar with no ill effects - but she's very sensible. This year I considered a full fly mask (mostly because she does NOT look pretty for photos with the nose mask on, how shallow hehe) however I wouldn't be able to remove it at night every night, and I'm not 100% comfortable with leaving it on in the dark as I don't know if she could see properly.

I guess you have to decide if the sun cream can be applied often enough/will last long enough, if the headcollar being on is tolerable, or if you're able to either remove a fly mask or happy to leave it on overnight. All have their downsides, for me the nose mask was the best option as the suncream didn't last and madam had a proper sore, crusty nose, but is sensible in a headcollar!

Think you guys are convincing me on the fly mask. I would do suncream, but he is such a playful horse he'll rub it off onto another horse for sure. He'd probably get into trouble with a headcollar on too or at least I would be worried so looking like a mask unless anyone can think of a bad reason. Poor boy haha.

I have a grey arab with a pink nose and I bought him one of the full face fly mask that come down and cover the nose has it on all the time during the day and night when out 24/7 with no problems - problem solved no more sunburn - he use to hate having sun tan lotion on.

I use Garnier factor 50 for kids cream and a PE full nose fly mask. Mine gets burnt if I don't use both of these things on a sunny day. I wash his nose off when he comes in as obviously the dirt sticks to the sun cream. He has a beautiful, pink, non-burnt nose that everybody admires!

Bought a sun cream, I think called ozvet or similar, apply twice a week & works brilliantly.

My cob is very pink skinned/blue-eyed. If he's out in the sun he has sun lotion around his nose/lips and a full-face mask (equilibrium / cashel). Problem is he sometimes rolls it off or field buddies pull it off, so it's a by hit and miss. I find it easier to bring him in during the day

I use a full face fly mask and don't have any problems with it - i've tried for 5 summers to get sun cream on my mares nose with no such luck! the mask is the next best thing!

Please don't use sudocream as a sun block, its oil based so will cook your horses nose rather than protect it! it is great as an after-sun though if something is already burnt!
