Seeing as we're discussing colours.

Also because so many people have said to me - oh I love a nice grey - since I got Bel

and due to her colour, certain individuals have threatened to come and steal her

but I've seen other posts on here with people saying - I would want a grey or - I wouldn't have one in my yard! When I went horse hunting and bought Star I didn't really want a grey. This time when I bought Bel, I really wanted one - funny how things change!

Of course with all the rain we've had lately the joy of keeping a grey clean is really kicking in!

SO, what do you folk think, do you love 'em or loathe 'em?

I'm sure most will say a good horse can be any colour (which is of course true) but it you met a horse that ticked all you boxes, would the fact it was a grey be a bonus or something you could live with:

love them, but wouldnt have one, Im far too lazy about keeping them clean, so mine would be a sort of yellowish green colour most of the time

ETS: unless of course it was perfect in every way, then I would just have to get used to grooming

I always said I'd never have a grey but..... I love mine and would try and get another one over any other colour if possible

I love mine to bits - but not because she's grey, because of who she is! If I was looking at two horses and one was "boring bay" and one was a mucky grey, I'd go for the bay. But really there's nothing quite like putting in loads of elbow grease and getting my grey lovely and shiney for a show, and seeing her gleam!

Having a grey wouldn't bother me, although I am often glad that Chex is only half white! I don't bother trying to keep him clean, if he wants to be brown, then he can be brown

. I love dark dappled greys, just a pity they don't stay that way!

love them, especially in dapple or steele varieties!!!

always wanted a grey, was really chuffed that my pinkish roany type coloured mare was looking really grey over winter, thought she was getting greyer, however he summer coat has came through and she is still pink...

had a grey! hated the cleaning but afterwards the finished result was something to be proud of!!! i did always say though when i had him that i would never get a horse that has any white on them at all not even socks lol and ended up getting a coloured lol! i love them and think they look really smart when they are all clean and shiney! my first year at pc camp i got 11/10 for turnout because he came out of his stable green and ended up white lol

!!! but they are great!

I'd have a grey but would probably moan about keeping it clean. My friend has one and she is always at the water tap scrubbing whereas a quick flick with a body brush does my dark bay girlie.

He does look stunning when he is a sparkling clean boy though.

Really don't like them to look at unless they are very dark (and those ones only get lighter!) that said if the horse was right I wouldn't refuse to buy it because of it's colour - I've got a black and they are as bad to keep looking clean!

Greys look great when they are clean buts it getting them clean and keeping them clean thats the problem. Its always nice to see them when they have been bathed and then they see mud and they suddenly change colour!!!!!!!!! We have 6 Greys, all different shades but mostly WHITE!!!

i love a good grey

- saying that I wouldve prefered Ebi to stay black! I would love Willow to stay black but doubt thats going to happen.

If i was looking for another horse I would look for a grey. If the perfect horse came along and it wasnt grey it wouldnt matter but would be great if it was!

I do like greys, and yours is particularly lovely (though that's not just why I want to steal her).
I have to admit though that some greys are not particularly appealing

My present horse is my first grey-when he's clean, he looks fantastic-so then I love them! Also don't show up the dust like dark horses.
When he's covered in stable stains I hate them and swear I will never have another again, however when flicking through the 'for sale' section in H&H I am always attracted to the greys for sale-specially if iron or steel grey.
Won't be long now 'till Paris goes completely white....

I have had FIVE greys on the trot!! Silver, Poppy, Rosie, Rocky and Ajax - I should have taken over a shampoo company! Thank God I have two chestnuts now.

I am afraid I have had my fair share of greys and wouldn't be too keen to have another!!

My previous horse was grey - lovely horse but my god what a nightmare to keep clean! I hated that they never look really "shiny" like a bay does, no matter how much work you put into them! But she did look smashing all clean and scrubbed. It was just a huge hassle! Now (with my bay) I can plait, rub a body brush over and I'm away - bliss.
Having said that, if a grey could do the job I wouldn't hesitate to have another.

Steel grey's when they are clean can look nice - they just dont do anything for me - i love the deep glossy shine of a bay/black

It doesnt do for us all to like the same things - thats boring
