So which one?

Lovely ponies

I love greys when they are all spick and span for a show but wouldn't fancy all that shampooing! Chum is a dun but grey when clipped out but still keeps quite clean. Prefer his dun dapples in the summer

Ok when they are someone elses job to keep clean and often pick a grey to back when at the races but would never buy one

I have had FIVE greys on the trot!! Silver, Poppy, Rosie, Rocky and Ajax - I should have taken over a shampoo company! Thank God I have two chestnuts now.

I am afraid I have had my fair share of greys and wouldn't be too keen to have another!!

Love the name - others should be Brillo, Domestos, Flash, Persil etc.

Well, If I were to list my favourite colours, grey would not be near the top - even though I have owned a FAB one!! I just don't find them as appealing to the eye as a chestnut say!!
But in line with having owned a brill one, I never judge a horse by it's colour - if it is a world beater I really couldn't care less what clour it is!! I like a horse to be attractive but the only time I think colour and attractiveness can be the same is on coloureds as some are nice and some are horribly marked!!
I always find it so strange when people are so bothered by colour - for example, the current craze for coloureds......... maybe I am just fussy but I have so many other more important criteria for my horses to fill other than colour!! As I said, as long as they are attractive I am happy and any colour can be attractive!!

He is as pale as you can get but he was steel grey with four white socks many many moons ago!!!

As other people have said already, I think there are more important things to think about when you buy a horse than its colour.

When I was horse shopping I didn't particularly want a grey horse becasue of having to keep it clean. However, I ended up buying a grey becasue he was everything I wanted. Also now I have a grey I would happily have another in the future as to be honest he isn't actually as hard to keep clean as I thought.

Greys also have the benefit of looking stunning when they are all clean and sparkly and are very eye catching.

This survey might be slightly skewed as presumably mostly grey-owners/lovers will open the post in the first place!

I never wanted one, ended up with one and now I notice only them!

First ever 'proper' ride at riding school when I was 5 was grey and I've ridden quite a few more since then. All of them were lovely but I never wanted to buy one when looking for a horse (always wanted a chestnut). However I am definitely being turned with all the lovely ones on the forum recently and might even think of buying one next time (this would be for OH so he could worry about it being clean - I'd just pinch a ride

LOVE EM! Would pick a grey over any other, Always picture my self in dreams on greys, alway owned greys by chance....The colour of the horse is low in importance in my mind just got to be decent enough colour for showing but thats more apliable for colours and markings. I perfer deeper greys over white greys.

Love em

Totally agree re irish greys! Good looking and tough what more can you ask for? However when i was 'shopping' for a new horse 5 years ago i said i wouldn't get another mare, wouldn't get a youngster and definitely not a grey. Ended up with 4yo irish grey mare and love her to bits though she is a total minger!

They definatly lok the smartest clean but major had other ideas

If I had a choice, I would always choose a grey. Mine isn't too much of a minger, and I try to keep him rugged for as long as possible, so grooming isn't too much of an issue.
I always used to think that greys don't shine like bays etc but tonight as I was brushing K I thought he had a wet patch on his quarters as it was sparkling soo much, on closer inspection it was just his natural shine!

Thats the first time I've ever noticed it though.
