Grey stallion

Agree about seeing more of the trot in a 'normal' speed rather than slowed right down as it has been. Also would like to have a look at his canter... He has a good jump on him, but as others have said, I am not a fan of doing so much so soon. But that is just me!

I wouldn't send her to him tbh. Primarily because he's too far away, but also as I have to stick to my guns, Sienna's hubby is likely to be either Charlie or Bollin Terry, just nbeed to get my ar*e in gear and come and see CHarlie.
I've a mare coming to me on livery to keep Sienna company (assuming she takes) in may who is going to breed a lovely little race horse, she's by Wolver Hollow and going to a Darley stallion - which is a bit posh

Crap aren't I.
Might not even be Darley tbh I know so little about TB breeding. They DO have a stud in Worcs don't they? (I know they are all over the place)

Yes do tell who she is visiting.
Dont always like the Darley stallions but they have some really nice new ones this time like proclamation.

I think you need to think what you want to try and end up with in the foal. I take the point of not trying to breed a grey because of the melanoma issue, having suffered this with my mare, I personally would never buy a grey again. But then you may be breeding for your own use, rather than to sell on. Like you my number one priority was temprement of the stallion but I also wanted a proven competition record. Funnily enough I have gone for almost pure TB for my choice as well for my grey horse. Hopefully she'll be going off to stud in April. If you are breeding to keep the foal then it changes your choice of stallion I think.

Ummmmmm no, they only have stallions at Dalham Hall in the UK, apart from Cadeaux Genereux, who is in Whitsbury Manor in Hants.

SN for some reason or another they dont put there outside stallions on there website anymore.
They also have Firebreak who is up in shropshire at the stud that stands mind games although cant remember what its called.

Lucky story is one of theres as i enquired about sending a mare to him this year.
Goodricke is another as is Kayf tara and proclamation and there are others .
Dont know why they are no longer on the website though.
But they do come up if you email them with an enquiry .

I think you're right. If I were breeding a foal to sell then she'd be going to a completely different stallion. In all likelihood she'd go to a warmblood.
I need to breed a horse I will like, and I like old fashioned, straightforward hunters. Therefore I should stick to a tb.
I also like horses with really correct conformation and no soundness issues - other reasons to stick to a TB rather than a WB. My personal theory is that TB's are so line bred that you can predict the outcome with more certainty, I think WBs still have some very random genes which can produce undesirable results. (flat croup, upright feet, DJD, dishing) and I want a horse which will show - so TB it has to be.

I am in no way wanting to cause ructions here, as you would think that what you say about TB's is totally true, but IME this is simply not the case!

Compare these guys - to the best of my knowledge, these guys are either Group/Grade 1 winners, producers or both!

You could try the same exercise with pictures of Northern Dancer, Sadlers Wells and Sally F's stallion High Tension. They are like peas in a pod.
I am aware there are lots of TB's with dodgy temperaments & conformation, but (I'm hoping) it is possible to select a TB specifically to inherit key characteristics.
You can certainly do this with WB's as well, but I think there are still a few characteristics which I really don't like that crop up periodically. They aren't such a big issue wiuth breeding for dressage or SJ (dishing, Boxy feet) but a big issue with a horse to go showing.

Oh I'm not disagreeing with you there at all - just on the type for type, line breeding, predictability etc..... Just thought I'd find these guys as examples - some are suprisingly similarly bred too. I'm not going in to all that though, I'm going to bed in stead - I have to be up 3hrs!
