Well, the field resembles the Somme . . . that should tell you pretty much all you need to know ;). His two fieldmates were very pleased to see him yesterday, but also quick to reinforce his position at the very bottom of the pecking order. J wouldn't even let him roll (poor boy) at first. They're obviously playing a lot (hence the state of the field) and this morning he was grooming with O over the fence . . . much-needed horsey time.

He is a different horse . . . much more relaxed and chilled and well on his way to being his old self . . . which makes me do this: :D :D :D

He is still only going out for short periods of time - two hours this morning and then he'll get another hour or so this afternoon while I skip out/poo pick, pootle around the yard. I so don't want to risk colic and/or laminitis. He looks sound in the field most of the time, although I have thought he looked a little short a couple of times - but then I'm probably over-scrutinizing/paranoid. We'll find out how sound (or not) he is next week when he comes back into work. I'm going to long rein him in the school to start with and then maybe head out round the gallops . . . just to exercise his brain a little . . . and will probably be back on board by Wednesday.

I so appreciate everyone's help, support and interest in our journey back to soundness . . . it means more than you know. Fingers crossed we're heading in the right direction.

Having read your updates, I just want to say how pleased that your horse is recovering so well.

Thank you. We won't know how well he's recovering until he's back in work, but I have everything crossed. He certainly looks happy and healthy out in the field :).

Happy and healthy in the field is just great.

Let's hope for continued improvement.

Indeed . . . and thank you. The biggest change is how much more relaxed he is now that he's going back out into the field . . . I hate seeing him so stressed and unhappy - by the end of that box rest he was flybucking in his stable, grinding his teeth and box walking. I knew he was desperate for horsey socialization because he was so eager to groom me ;).

It's just soo perfect seeing them grazing happily after they've been confined (whether they've been stressed or not).

You may have to post pics.....
