Grieving - tribute to the dog of a lifetime

..my keyboard is drowning in tears too...
So sad and sorry for your loss, much to young, RIP beautiful girl and huge great big (((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))) for your mum.

With every reply I am beginning to feel a tad stronger - thank you so much.

I now know that there was a tumour that had been growing very slowly but my poor little puppy was too strong, brave and stoic to show that she was ever in any pain. She hadn't swallowed a stone/ball/stick that I may have thrown for her as I don't think I could have forgiven myself.

+1

This is my worst nightmare for all of ours, especially one who is my dog of a lifetime.

I just want to come and give you a massive hug and let you cry your heart out. :(

So sorry to hear of your loss. She was a beautiful girl & obviously a wonderful character. She was very lucky to have you & to enjoy being loved into her twilight years. Big hugs xxx

My sympathy to you. I have a black lab who is nearly 13 and she is the sweetest, loyalist dog you could find. Keep your chin up, it will get easier.

So sorry, many of us have been where you are now and its really hard. Try to remember your dog had a lovely life, never knew unhappiness and you did all you could. My first little Stafford bitch was my shadow and saw me through some really awful times. She too had a tumour and died during her operation and was only 11.

Your girl looks lovely...

How sad - I'm so sorry! Your post has made me cry! I have my "pack" sitting with me at the moment and I can't bear the thought of losing any of them although I know it's going to happen one day. My "Springer sisters" are so close that we reckon when one dies, the other will die of a broken heart! They're five now and it only seems like yesterday that we drove home from Norfolk with two gorgeous little bundles sitting in the footwell of the passenger seat.....and Molly Springer - she'll be eight at at end of April - where has the time gone? Bryn, my Large Munsterlander.......six at the end of May - he's still like a baby dog to me!!! My daughter's Goldie is now six and SO grey (found out that her sire's offspring go prematurely grey) and only our springer lab cross is still young! (She's two.) Hubby's standard poodle is ten and has just started becoming incontinent so her age is now beginning to show. God, our dogs steal our hearts, don't they?

So sorry for your loss of such a beautiful dog x x x Its one of the hardest things in the world but one day you will stop crying and smile at the memories you've had with her. Big hugs xxx

So sorry OP :(
She was absolutely beautiful and clearly adored.
We lost my mums Bull Mastiff to Lymphoma 6 weeks before his 8th Birthday in February. His demise was relatively quick, but to lose your girly so suddenly must be intolerable.
I'm sitting here now with my lab Molly, crying with you for your tragic loss.
Time will heal, and she'll always be in your heart forever :'(

xxxx Massive hugs to you xxxxx

What a lovely tribute to a much loved family member. She was so beautiful. Shed tears for your loss. Sending you and your family a huge hug .xxx

Nearly exactly a week and I am still an emotional wreck. We are going to collect her ashes tomorrow then set her free on the beach at the weekend. Writing, and receiving replies, to this thread has helped to come to terms with everything - I can't thank you all enough. Sleep tight little girl.
