Covert cctv strikes again.

I cannot vouch for the identity of the horse kicker/puncher, but the antis have ID’d him as a farrier and as a huntsman. He is dressed for riding.

I wonder why the horse was lying down in the walkway when wearing a saddle in the first place? Ill or terrified, it leapt to its feet when kicked, and then collapsed back down again after being repeatedly punched. Poor sod.

If you click on the link below the footage plays even though it says it is unavailable.

It seems to work if you click somewhere on the black background.

ETA this is a screen shot of a still. The man is standing over the horse which is on the ground. There is a second person there who helped to remove the saddle, but was apparently not part of the attack.

ETA2 Apparently this was filmed earlier today 24/8/24.

I can’t understand the circumstance of why the horse is down (maybe a youngster who can’t understand saddle/girth?) the kick is one with the foot to get it up, the punches I can’t figure out why on earth they would have been necessary. Out of line. Rough handling for sure and a very confused horse.

That’s what I was trying to ascertain - the horse was down whilst tacked up for some unknown to us reason - and so, at a push, I could see why someone might try and get the horse up quickly and use their foot to do so in panic. BUT wtf was the punching about afterwards?? The horse then went down again. If the horse was a breaker acting odd, or colicky that could explain its behaviour but the punching makes me wonder if this is a phycological trauma type response. I hope it’s well investigated

Facts
Camera has a very narrow field of view, only showing this doorway.
2 people are involved, one in a dark jacket, the other in pale clothes.
At the beginning of footage the horse is already lying down & jacket-man is crouching beside it's near side, not visibly doing anything unpleasant.
Pale clothes arrives.
Jacket jumps away & is already standing on the horse's off side by the time it stands up.

My interpretation
'Jacket' knew what was going to happen, which is why he was so fast at getting out of the way.
The person siting the camera knew what was going to happen and that this doorway was where.
Both horse and Jacket have previous experience that tells them to be afraid of 'Pale Clothes'; the horse, to the extent that it exhibits learned helplessness at tacking up time.

I'm guessing he will use "one-off temporary loss of judgement" as his defence but the facts speak otherwise.

I wondered if the horse was colicking and they were trying to get it up and keep it up. Nasty way of going about it though - someone should punch him when he's feeling lousy.. Wonder why the horse went down in the first place and how long it had been there before matey turned up.

I once brought a retired racehorse back in to work (after several years off) and obviously over girthed him as he went down like that. He only got up once the girth was loosened right off. I am presuming that is what happened here but as others have said there is definitely unanswered questions.

That was my thought too. It stays up normally once the saddle is removed. The punching is just plain cruelty. He can't have been hoping to gain anything from it.

I’d guess the horse was colicking - I’ve seen a whipper in for the Ledbury Hunt do exactly this to a horse of his own that was clicking.

I arrived at the yard to do my own horse to find him kicking the horse repeatedly in the ribs to make it stand up. He then apparently abandoned his efforts, didn’t call the vet and literally left the horse out in a field to die.

Needless to say I didn’t stay on the yard after that, he was/is vile. I wish now I’d had the guts to report him, I was less assertive back then 😞

He punched it after it got up, so not trying to get it up, he'd already done that by kicking it 😡

I’ve watched again since I posted and you are quite right. Absolute scum.

Hopefully will be a career ending situation like it was for Scott Manson (although his partner is travelling head groom for Carl Hester…. go figure 😳)

It's disgusting. You just wonder how often this happens, out of sight out of mind. Poor souls.
Quite and the horse is stranded there, in that environment, with no way of escaping.

It looks very like a girth pressure thing and if it is then the poor horse is in pain and for that s/he gets kicked and punched.
Disgusting piece of 💩 - I hope he is prosecuted.

What else goes on there.
