Went for a ride round the farm (where yard is) with a friend of mine this morning.

Got to the bottom of a long, uphill field and just let them go. That feeling of lying flat on your horse's neck, both of you having such fun by going as fast as possible and the amazing fact that this beautiful animal not only lets me do that, but takes pleasure in it as much as I do. That's what makes the winter worth it.

What makes the winter worth it for you?

Thats how I felt a week ago when I took my mare for her first proper canter up a field for about 18 months after her tendon injury. Magical isnt it!

i love it and its what my mare lives to do (gallop) but i feel guilty when ever i do so haven't had a good run in about a year. Its either hard ground or worrying it will make her rushy and tense on hack
