Grit and dogs?

I have never thought this an issue before, but after working the dogs today I walked back down the lane for a change. The lane has been gritted as it is still snowing, and all of the dogs seemed to be irritated- I had to wash all four dogs' paws and although I couldn't physically see anything I assumed it was the grit on the lane, as they are fine now?

Yes it can irritate their pads, it is the salt in it I think.

Beach sand can have the same effect.

Yes the salt can make them lane.

Especially if they have any tiny cracks in pads you can't see, well you know what it is like if you get salt on a open bit of skin!
