Hi

I'm looking at upgrading/replacing my current brushes and kit which currently consists of a couple of worn brushes, rubber curry comb, hoofpick, tiger tongue (eaten by a dog so pretty threadbare) and mane/tail brush. Can anybody recommend some good quality brushes to replace mine with - doesn't have to be a full kit - and I'm fine with spending a bit more provided they will last. Horse is grey so bonus points for anything that will help keep him cleaner (big ask at the moment!)

I use the most

magic brush
Haas rubber curry comb
Tiger tongue brush
old bits of towel
mane and tail brush and some mane and tail oil

I also have a full Haas body brush set that I have had a long time and I store well and has lasted very well. I think mine are 6-7 years old and showing no signs of wear. I would say (as I didnt have a decent set before) they have proven long term good value for money.

I do replace the tiger tongue about every 6 months.

my most used brushes are a slip not bentley flick brush (shires version is acceptable but not as good😂), haas lippizaner, haas fellglanzburste, and a lemieux mane brush.

i like the schimmel too, even though i don’t have grays - you’d probably have more use for it than me!🤣

I have a couple if the Haas brushes. The one designed for swamp monsters (horses who enjoy a mud bath) is the one I use most in winter for mud removal, and I have the military one for making him shiny in summer.

Also have a good shedding blade and mane and tail brush.

Those are the ones that get used most often.

A shedding blade is a must if you've got hairy ponies. Mine absolutely despises rubber curry combs (As she reminded me yesterday when I thought I'd see if her opinion had changed), but absolutely loooves the shedding blade!
