How do you groom your horse?
What kind of brush do they prefer? Soft brushes or hard bristles? Or a mix of both?

My veteran TB is not keen on being brushed and I can only use the softest of brushes on her as she is really ticklish.

My ISH on the other hand luuurves being groomed :) and the harder the brush the more she loves it. Even on her clipped bits and face - she much prefers a hard bristled brush and moves up and down 'telling me' where she wants to be brushed. Quite gutted really as I bought her a lovely soft goat hair brush when I bought her and have never used it :)

What do yours prefer?

Two horses I've had have really not liked being brushed - so I was always very careful about what brushes I used on them, and where.

My mare is very ticklish so I always groom her with a catus mitt and finish off with a sheepskin mitt. We have a thing that looks like a pan scrubber for stubbon muddy bits but the catus mitt is usually enough to get most of the durt off.

Kenny loves being brushed with the hardest brushes I can find - which is useful when I need to get the mud out of his thick connemara coat with a plastic curry comb!

Can't wait for him to be clipped - tired of the scruffy mammoth look now!
