Ok as I have now been forced to join the world of dog showing I need to find somewhere to buy all the stuff I find I need. A dog grooming table, apparantly one with wheels is the best so I can take it with me to shows, but the prices are rather high so does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do. I am not planning on spending my life showing, so I am not looking for the Rolls Royce of grooming tables. I have been scouring Ebay but the tables all go extremely fast. I also need to buy scissors, combs clippers, tiny clippers as well. So any help, guidance or ideas on second hand stuff would be brilliant

What kind of dog are you showing? Will certainly make a difference for table size.

Look at or better yet, phone Technogroom as they do cater to professional groomers as well as the showing scene. www.technogroom.co.uk or 01555 771 555

A bedlington :) So not a large table but god they take some trimming. Will have a look at that website. apparantly I have to be careful of which shampoo I use, I need to keep his coat almost wirey, not very soft. So bathing him in my treseme is out as thas what I did, oh and conditioned it as well. oooops

There's a good shampoo called K9 Competition Crispy Coat and its good with a follow up spray called Crisp Mist (also by K9 Comp). Thsi product was developed with show dogs in mind. I would use that on a beddie. I use it on my poodle who is too soft coated and it does help crisp it up a bit. However, not much you can do to alter what God gave him ;) but using the right product can help. :)

Recently went to a pet show with Technogroom (no I don't work for them, but I am a customer) and as I recall they were selling small tables that would suit a beddie for around £75 new (with grooming arm and noose). No wheels tho - but small enough to carry easily.

I second the table without wheels unless you want a trolley table to wheel a crate on.
A luggage trolley works with a folded table and for a Bedlington you may be ok with a camping table & a non slip mat.
Scissors/shears you really need to try in your hand so getting to a champ show is the best option. Otherwise a pair of hairdressers scissors will tide you over rather than spending lots on scissors that don't suit you.
I wouldn't bother with tiny clippers but instead get a cordless trimmer. I haven't used this one - http://www.technogroom.co.uk/catalog/twister-trimmer-p-552.html but it should suffice for one bedlington.

Conditioner has it's place in Bedlington grooming - you can use it to release a knot and then re-shampoo to get the conditioner out.

Thank you very much, I have the wahl clippers and just bought the the clip on blade guards so that will do the main . THat trolley at £75 sounds ok. Good tip about scissors, I looked at some on line and nearly fell over backwards. £140 for a pair of scissors !! My first show is November 19th, an open show just to get him started. AV terrier puppy as no Belington classes down here. Then his first Bedlington class is on 27th November but I have to them show as a junior as no puppy class in there.
