Arrived at yard to find my grooming kit was filled with water and brushes all submerged.

So got it in the kitchen to clean and shall require few new brushes.

Cleaning wise - washing machine or dishwasher?

I'd do neither, I'd soak it in a weak solution of disinfectant in the sink and use a comb to comb the hair from between rows of bristles

I always pop them in the dishwasher! I also put bits, overreach boots and any other rubber/plastic items through the dishwasher

Im another who hand washes with dettol or savlon, rinse well(!) then leaves in the sun to dry.

Id worry about a machine being too hot and damaging the bristles.

Bucket of warm water to soak with a few drops of lavender and tea tree oil - lifts dirt and disinfects. You can then give a scrub with a dishwashing brush if needed and remove any remaining hairs. Have done this for past 30 odd years and some brushes are that old and still good!

Would worry about heat of dishwasher unless brushes are all plastic with nylon bristles.

I've not got a dishwasher but bung mine through the washing machine about 2-3 times a year, shove everything in & comes out lovely & clean.

I think people put them in a old pillow case. But tbh I've never put them in before.

I think I'll put the rubber and plastic one in the dishwasher.

My two Stubben body brush and finishing brush I think are ruined after being submerged - so I think I'll have to get new ones.

People wash brushes etc in machines!

If mine get cleaned they go in a bucket of water with dish washing liquid. I am not very nice to my brushes.

More often than not they go in the bin and I buy more :)

I put my oster brushes in the washing machine and all came out fine, lovely and clean...however the plastic bobbles on the end of the bristles of the mane and tail brush ( the type a bit like a human hair brush) all broke off - they must have got stuck in the holes in the drum when it was spinning.

So I'd say washing machine except for that brush!

Phew!!! So do I!
It has never occurred to me to put a brush in a washing machine.

I just do mine in any old shampoo thats laying about.

Actually - I found my kit in a similar condition the other week, brought it home but havent done it yet, must get my bum in gear !!
