Grooming kit!

Loads of hay, straw and dust :D

Two hoof picks (with brushes), wee ickle face brush, couple of body brushes, dandy brush (flick style), water brush, metal/rubber/plastic curry combs, sheepskin/cactus mitt, rubber mitt, couple of mane combs, baby wipes, baby oil, baby shampoo, cornucrescine, hoof oil + brush, sweat-scraper, measuring tape, scissors, solo-comb and assortment of cloths and sponges. Think that's all!

Wow! Thanks :D my grooming kit needs updating! In summer it's ok to wash your horses? When it's warm of course! But can u use baby shampoo like Johnsons or something!? Instead of this mega expensive shampoo? And when would u wash them? Randomly muddy or after riding!?

Plastic, Rubber & Metal curry comb, Dandy brush, Body brush, Face brush, Hoof pick, Hoof brush, Hoof paint, NAF Hoof rub & brush, Mane comb, Sweat scraper, Sponge, Scissors, Plaiting kit, Hairspray, Mane & Tail Spray, Fly spray, Stain remover, White Diamond Shampoo, NAF Grey horse shampoo, thinning scissors, baby oil, baby wipes, cactus/sheepskin mitt, polishing mitt.

Hmm think that's about it!

Re. washing, I only wash before events/shows and use White Diamond and NAF grey horses shampoo (I have a grey!!!) but I imagine baby shampoo would be fine but haven't used it personally.

body brush (x3), dandy brush (x2) rubber curry, plastic curry, several hoof picks, metal curry, plaiting bands (unused), tail bandage (unused), a camera, vaseline, baby oil, baby wipes (unscented), j-cloths, shampoo, tail detangler...

probably more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head!

All the usual and lots of brushes covered in hay! I was moaning to my daughter last night regarding brushes saying oh they just don’t make them like they used to – showing age there lol. I did once for many years own a fantastic mud brush until it got swiped at my old yard (oh the joys of now being on my own yard), searched high and low for one the same but to no avail

Yeah lots of dust, hay, shavings and hair!! Hoof pick, rubber curry comb, mane and tail brush, body brush, dandy which doesnt get used, aromaheel, kevin bacon, paint brush, plaiting bands, germolene!

I agree - but I now have invested in a set of Oster grooming kit as they are the only brushes my sensitive chestnut mare will tolerate! They are a lot different in that they dont have straps for your hands like the old ones did, but have rubber grips instead. I totally love them and no longer have to dodge teeth and hooves when brushing her stifle!

three layers (funky tool box from asda £10!)

layer 1
treats, mini clippers, scissors, studs, screwdriver, plaiting bands and comb
layer 2
Hoof picks, mane brush, torch, rubber gloves, latex gloves, vaseline, sudocream
layer 3
small body brush, big body brush, face brush, plastic, rubber and metal curry combs, dandy brush, water brush and a home made wisp.

all other stuff including baby shampoo, conditioner etc get kept in a set of drawers in tack room, too much to mention in there!

thanks for all the replies! thank god no one swipes my brushes! i was just wondering bout he vaseline and what its used for?

Vaseline gets used in the corners of the mouth to keep the skin there soft and pliable.

It's easy to mark brushes so that they're less likely to be pinched. With fine sand paper remove the varnish off - a space large enough to write yours or your horses name. Write with a permenant marker and then varnish over.

On the plastic and metal items write the name and then brush some varnish over - stops people being able to remove with solvent.

I have a dog grooming comb for mane pulling as it doesn't break the hairs like the horse combs. Also a good human hairbrush for when I do brush out their tails.

im my grooming kit: 2 dandy brushes, 1 body brush, 2 rubber curry combs, 1 plastic surry comb, 1 metal curry comb, water brush, 3 hoof picks (they are like gold dust around the yard!), sponges-colour coded, millions of various combs/hairbrushes- yes, dare i say it shared between horse and human ;)sweat scraper...lots of mud, hay and shavings!

then i have a separate box that's split into 2 sections: one side with first aid and stuff, and the other half for main and tail conditioner, hoof oil & brush, show shine, shampoo, scissors, plaiting stuff etc

i think thats it.....OOOHHHH various half eaten packets of polo's/xtraa strong mints :)
