I have just taken on my son's dog. (Why did I do this) It is a large hairy mutt. It seems to have some undercoat that really could do with raking out I think. It is a very soft coat and he is booked in to the hairdressers shortly. I don't actually "do" fluffy dogs so this is something of a culture shock after whippets. Does anyone have an recommendations on the best tool to use to keep him brushed up a bit please? Thanking you.

What breed of dog is it?
Thankyou for all suggestions. Will look them out. Breed is debatable. It's a mutt is the short or long answer. He's some sort of lurcher. Coat is soft and fluffy not coarse and broken. He has a bit of a look of wolfhound but coat is wrong. Coat wrong for Saluki I think. Possibly some Afghan in him. He is quite large and is soft enough in nature but is a bit of a pain with small furries. I'm working on that right now. Needing eyes everywhere. Son has gone abroad for work and couldn't take him.
