Grooms! What's in your showing bag/ basket?

Top of my head, in the basket, probably-
Good body brush/goat hair brush
tail brush
sheepskin mitt
sparkle
glistening oil
white spray paint/brown spray paint/black spray paint
scissors
highlighter gel
flyspray
gloss
spray on hoofshine
cloth
drink

For the grooms coming into the ring... good body brush, hoof oil and cloths for wiping things down. Maybe some glistening oil or highlighter gel, but generally that is still on from being applied before the class. Usually a bottle of water for me too!

What is the spray on hoof shine? I'm intrigued?

oh, wetwipes.

I have to have anything I *might* need right there as there is NO way OH is going back to get anything I forget and decide I need, lol! :D

Quickgloss, high gloss hoof oil in a spray. Someone got it for me for secret santa, jury is out on it still. Very easy and fast to apply, but maybe not shiny enough for all tastes.

Is it hard to put it on accurately? I have one with a white sock and am paranoid about the hoof oil going on carefully below it.

Just as an aside... I saw people turning out show cattle recently and they were spraying them with WD40!!

I've also seem this. The metal curry combs give me the willies too, they really go at it. I'm glad bottom of tail foofing up isn't in equine fashion, it looks a nightmare. I like the idea of being able to power-hose a horse though, how much easier/quicker would that be? Also that it would stand quietly attached to a gate whilst I blast it. I can dream!

ETA I use WD40 on myself if I get really dirty, or covered in grease, it's better than soap for the tough stuff, and saves time scrubbing under a tap. A quick spray and rub then your ready to lather up ;) :o

Think Mum tends to have:

Soft brush (for sweat marks)
Soft Mitt
Tail brush
Tea towel (taking dust off boots etc.)
Damp sponge in freezer bag (slobber remover!)
Bottle of water
Polos

That's about it, she may put baby oil in but not sure she bothers as usually plenty on still from before the class.

Tend to feel that once you're in the class there's not a huge amount you can really improve on what's already there!

No, it's actually really accurate, or I found it so at least. It's an aerosol spray rather than a pump spray.

Sounds good :D We just got a portable shower *enters the 20th century :D*

True, but most of my stuff is in the basket from getting ready for the class rather than for touch ups during it.

I'm sure she had a bag with other things in it, but I'm liking one of the parents on the programme last night who had grass in her bag!

Yes. In an aerosol, sprays on directly or you can spray onto a soft brush or cloth and apply it that way.

eta - Sorry if there's any misunderstanding, I just realised there could be! I call it spray paint, it is actually proper horse makeup in a can just in case anyone thinks I go to Halfords for my kit :D:D
