13 April 2008 #2 N Nailed Well-Known Member Joined 26 September 2006 Messages 8,650 Location Stoke-on-Trent Visit site groovin is used to allow the hoof wall to expand in cases opf contration, there is not alot of evidence to proof that it is a worth while practise. it is a pain in the arse to perform and bnot many farriers do it noweredays. an alternative would be either bar shoes to provide support or regular triming to kee the pony walkin on his frogs and toe and not on his heels. lou x
