Erm....I think my mother has given me nits. Gah! She works in a school with lots of nitty children so occasionally brings it home, despite efforts to prevent it.

This time I might have it cos my head is itching. Haven't found anything but I'm treating it just in case. Double gah!

Do I need to treat my riding hat? I last used it on tuesday and I think my head was itchy then? Can you even treat hats? What with? Would a blast of deodoriser suffice?

I don't wanna have to buy a new one just cos the parents at mum's schools don't look after their kids properly!

Sorry - this question is minging! Hope you guys can help.

Yuck Yuck Yuck. Another itchy head now.

I would treat your hat with a little of whatever your treating your head with. Not to much though incase the chemicals ruin your hat. It's better safe than sorry. You don't want to get them again. They do say if you get them you need to wash the towel you use to dry your hair and should clean all your bedding so I guess your hat would be the same.

asuming you dont have a hat with a removable liner (some do) that can be washed, I may be wrong but if you didnt wear it for a few days, anything in there should have no food supply and die, but that would mean you cant ride, so maybe if you get some of that hedrin stuff and give it a quick wipe round? obviously dont soak it , just enough on a tissue to give a thin covering on the lining. let it dry before you put it on your head...but chances are you and your mum will ave to do your heads too. ...and now you made me itch!

Honestly - you REALLY don't need to treat your hat - headlice are tough little buggers that DO NOT want to leave their nice little source of food for a cold riding hat with no grub.

Thanks for your help guys!

After checking thoroughly with a nit comb it turned out I was nit free - hooray. But I treated anyway because better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the advice and I'm really sorry that you all have itchy bonces now!
