My friends fella has been working for an international dressage rider in Warwickshire (no name dropping allowed, lol) for the past 8 years as a groundman/groom but unfortunately he was told last week that the rider is relocating to another part of the country and therefore his job will be non existent.:( He is gutted as you can imagine as he got on really well with the dressage rider and they were very pleased with his work as he is so hard working and reliable. :(

He has been wondering if groundstaff jobs jobs exist at equestrian centres, and show centres, I think he was thinking of places like Addington and Towerlands. I presume they have groundstaff to prepare surfaces and look after fields and paddocks and the like?? I think he wants to get away from the actual physically working with horses bit now and concentrate more on the groundstaff type of work. Don't know if I've explained that properly so hope you know what i mean

He is really looking for a job with accommodation as the place him and his girlfriend share, the landlord wants to put up for sale! Talk about bad timing.

So I said I'd do my best and see if anyone on H&H forum can suggest any show centres or a large livery yards/farms that require staff with or without accommodation.

Anyone know of anywhere preferably in the Midlands area?

Or look up places that have a XC course for hire...#

Alternatively, he could look at offering his services on a freelance basis? and find a number of yards where he could do x days? would have thought would have been quite popular!

Maybe an ad in the h&h/Country Life Magazine- and see what replies he gets!

I was going to suggest as others have said i.e a big racing yard or racecourse?/ or big country estate/ gold course if he wants to diversify!

Best of luck!
