Right guys, need some ideas.
As you know, we have little SWUO with us, and although she can't be ridden I want to arrange something special for my daughters birthday that could include Jelly, soooooo, I thought about maybe setting up some sort of groundwork lesson here at the yard. Problem is, I haven't a clue who would do this kind of thing, or what they'd do.
Daughter is generally very good at handling Jelly, but we all need extra instruction etc, so thought it might be an idea to have someone come in and do 'something' with the pair of them that is fun, but also instructional.

Here is a very short vid of daughter loose schooling Jelly at the weekend....you can see that Jelly will follow daughter so would ideally like to be able to build upon that.

So guys, come on(especially Notts people)...any suggestions/recomendations?

Cheers

Hi!
How about a Kelly marks recommended associate? I've used Adam Goodfellow and Nicole Golding for loading problems - and also for general horse handling - safe leading, letting out in fields, how to deal with barginess and lack of respect from horse and they were excellent. Best thing I ever did in terms of bonding with my horse

Here's the site, if you go to the Horse Help page, and then the list of Recommended Associates there look to be a couple in Notts - http://www.intelligenthorsemanship.co.uk/
Good Luck

Sorry if I've missed it but is there a reason she can't be ridden?
She looks lovely in the video!

Could you not do something like 'clicker training' with her?

Before she came to me her previous owners had not had her for very long and she had come to them unbroken(she's 10 now). I don't know if it's simply that she doesn't like it, or if there's a pain issue going on, but she just does not enjoy having someone on her back. She doesn't mind my son 'riding' her, but he is only 3 so weighs nothing.
Having had her a little while now my own personal feelings on the matter are that she is happy as she is, just mooching round the field, being loose schooled/pampered/taken for walks/occasionally lunged etc hence why I'm looking for something my daughter can do with her on the ground.

Clicker training would be great as SWUO is a real intelligent little lady, and no doubt we'll do something along those lines with her in the near future

I am hoping that if I can arrange somehting then they can go from there and have more lessons together in the future.

Would fit in well with your daughter's free schooling too - lots of body language (at which your daughter looks like a natural) and talking 'horse'

Good fun too!
All the best to you - lovely pony by the way

That is really what I'm after....something that they will be able to work on together. It's funny, as SWUO naturally follows my daughter around so they're already communicating well with each other despite the fact that we haven't actively worked on that aspect of their relationship, if that makes sense

Aww, Poor pony! At least shes got a lovely owner that wants to do something with her as opposed to leaving her in the field.

She looks like a really nice little thing

I'll second having and RA out from the monty roberts site. I'm not too far from nottingham at all and I had Linda Ruffle out who is excellent, someone else on my yard has had Debbie Glennon who comes from north of nottingham and she was very pleased with her.

I can also second the clicker training, alot of fun. Have you ever looked at http://caninefilmacademy.com/NonDogDocs/Topper/Topper.html

Good luck and let us know how you get on
