Hello! I am going to take madam to this. Have seen a schedule, and they do a 85cm class.... but there didnt seem to be an entry form or anything in it! So not sure if it is enter on the day? Hopefully someone can enlighten us

My friend is organising it, shall ask her about entries!

The 85cm will be lovely Mandymoo, if you look at my photos in the Osberton ODE post m_m posted further down, i'm sure it will be very similar to that, but a tad smaller as that is ment to be 95cm ........ so they may leave out things like the bank....

ah thanks samuel whiskers!
smile.gif
PM me please if you find out?
laugh.gif

will take a look at your report...
smile.gif
so will there definitley not be any complicated combinations or anything? (it will only be my 2nd xc run...EVER!) lol xx

its usually o.k, in fact i did it as my second run on my lad as a youngster and it was fine, lots of portables, a little step, there is water, but most that will is splash through, maybe small step in or out, you will be fine!

Have emailed her and will let you know re: entries

I did it a few years ago when Arnie was baby (I think it was his first HT) and it was fine. I think entries were on the day but I'm sure full details will be on the Grove & Rufford PC website.

thanks MM

just went on G&R PC site and it says ''schedule available soon'' etc, so hopefully will have more info asap
smile.gif
erm...do i have to be a member of the PC to compete in the HT?
crazy.gif
or is it open? xx

Don't go on the pony club website for this, it split into two, many years ago!! It's now Grove pc that run comps at Osberton, but they have nothing to do with this one. It's being run by the Grove and Rufford Hunt!

Mandymoo the Hunter Trial that it refers to on the Grove pc website isn't on till the 17th October! Look on the Grove and Rufford Hunt website for details of the one coming up in March

My friend (said organiser) so should be right! said entries on the day! So no probs there.

I'm sure the novice will be fine for you and your boy, esp if you've done eland lodge.

http://www.groveruffordhunt.org.uk/

This is the link, if you need a schedule speak to Annette and she will send one, otherwise they are in most local tack shops etc

Mandymoo, yes i would say no.17 was largest fence on the 95 cm course so don't panic, plus it was in the open when i did the Grove PC hunter trial in October.

I am sure the 85cm will be inviting and nice, i seem to remember it being lovely when i did it with my boy, plus if there is anything scary, i'm sure they will put an alternative in! You will be fine, sounds like Bugs will take you!!

thanks SW

(sorry to drag this out with a zillion questions...)
BUT...so if its entries on the day, how do i know when im going? and when do i walk the course?
crazy.gif

sorry if im being a numpty - i dont do xc really! haha
smile.gif
im used to sj where you arrive, enter, jump, leave
smile.gif
lol xxx

Sorry jlb - you're absolutely right about the split, I'd completely forgotten that (going stir crazy today I think with the lack of eventing, snow, etc!)
crazy.gif
.

MM - you just put your number on the board and wait your turn (like SJ
wink.gif
) and walk the course the day before or get there early and do it before you start.
laugh.gif

oh righty ho MM
smile.gif
ta. i think i'll do it day before...less stress
wink.gif
haha..

so i definitley dont need to be a member of anything to do it? just checking...

and will Monty's fitness be ok? he is ridden about 5-6 times a week, pretty forward hacks about 1hr-1hr30...lots of hills and trotting... and he is fine with a days out hunting (quiet south notts monday hunts) - will this be ok? is it a very long HT course? or is it about the same length as eland lodges - 4-5mins?

jeez im asking a lot of questions!!!
blush.gif
xx

It won't be too long a course, probably the same as Eland Lodge? It's also fairly flat so I imagine Monty will be fine
smile.gif

Not sure about what to wear, some hunts are funny about xc colours so it might be best to bring both, or to ask when you walk the course. Walking it the day before gives you chance to find it aswell, as sometimes people get lost on the estate... I'll hopefully be doing it, but it depends on whether Bronts has four working legs on the day!

MM, i would walk the course the day before and they you won't panic on the day, you can always have another walk when you get there in the morning if you like!

They will give approx times for the classes then like m_m said, just pop your number on the board.

Your fitness will be absolutely fine, Osberton has a few hills, so if you do a few of those whilst hacking you will crack it no probs.

XC colours all the way......... so get co-ordinating!

Just looking at schedule, classes start at 9.30am with Pairs, then class 2 open juniors, then i think you will be 3rd class restricted novice 85cm., if you haven't been placed in any ODE or HT 1st, 2nd and 3rd! I would guess at 45 mins per class per class so maybe aim for 11am ish, should think the novice will be a very big class, as next is Class 4 open 1.10m!

Also if you haven't got one, don't forget to get a medical armband, but you won't need a number bib, these are provided, but £5 deposit.

Course walk from 1pm on Satruday 27th...

Body protector must be worn, but sure you know this!

Also if you go clear, there will be a timed section, you and bugs will fly round this, treat is at J/O. It will be in a seperate ring (bit like show jumping) with a mix of knock down show jumps and solid fences, you will be able to do your tight turns etc! Its usually set on optimum time, which is hard to judge, but from experience, its usually a pretty quick one!

Hope that helps a bit ....
