I have had an appoinment with my (new) farrier booked for the past 2 weeks, only to get a text at half two today (he was coming up to my lad at 4ish) saying he wasn't coming to him today as he finished his previous horse at 1pm and didn't want to do nothing for three hours. (which is understandable) but has now asked to come on weds and I said it is unsuitable as I am not home until half 5 and no-one will be on the yard until half four ish.
I said my brother would be at the yard half 3-4ish and will be able to pay him if i do not get there so he is happy for this to happen on weds but not today.
Rang him at least 10 times and he never picked up, and just told me over text. He said it would be ok if he started on his own and then someone paid him, so I asked if he was meaning it would be ok if he could do this today as my lad really needs sorting out and he is inside ready and waiting, text me half an hour ago saying no weds.
Ok I appologise for moaning at pratically nothing but I am not happy with the fact I have had a appointment for 2 weeks only to be told he will come next week because he basicly cannot be bothered.
But yes once again, my appologises just pretty peeved I guess.

it amazes me the things I hear about farriers. Somecan be such Prima donnas. At the end of the day you are paying him and he should at least have the courtesy to phone you and discuss this properly.
My farrier turns up on time, doesnt expect tea / coffee / fairy cakes, and doesnt mind if I'm not there myself (although I am always there). I phone him and he fits me in asap, usually within 2 days.
Can you find another farrier?

Our farrier is totally fab, just like xxkatyxx's, but we had to grit our teeth thru about 9 bad ones (late, don't turn up, kicked the horse, 4 nails in each shoe, impossible to get hold of...) before we found him.

IMHO, 80% of farriers could do with a jolly good spanking. And maybe a watch.

mine let me down today as well, had finished work early to get home for him but at least he did ring me to apologise and he is coming out in the morning

What area are you in?

Farriers eh! I Gave up waiting with most of them, we have one thats quite good atm and he lives on the yard so is there most of the time!!

Mine is fab, cant fault him. His wife books the appts in up to 6 months ahead, he always turns up on time, and if i'm not there pops the bill by the door and we post a cheque to him

Super service!!
