Give your account details to a stranger, no way!!!

When you write a cheque, you give your details to a stranger, its no different

your cheque has all your bank details on it

Giving a cheque is far worse - it also has your signature on it.

In these days of so many people having a scanner and printer what more open invitation could you give a potential scammer?!

Doesn't sound like a scam tbh! Rest easy. Our yard buys and sells internationally - it's a really good-value option to get the type of horse you want at the price you need e.g. if you want an ISH, go to ireland.

If they transfer money into your account they can't get it back - it is cleared and thats that - we have had dealings with customers in russia recently and it was for lot of money, we were a bit suspicious but everything turned out fine and our bank confirmed that once the money is in, thats it as far as BACS transfers go - whereas bankers drafts, cheques etc can be forged and can bounce.

bit of an update...

the chap had by 9am been trying to transefer the money, but I hadnt given the correct details, he bothered to ring so i have now spoke to him aswell.

money should be cleared today, will keep checking bank. i have also been given some orders re the horse.. ie no competing, look after it very well etc, as it muct leave my yard without a scratch on it.

just waiting for the details about the export side of it now from the vets, then we can start to arrange transport.

Little_ponios_rock sold her pony to Italy, so I would be less wary that this is a scam.

Having been given the strict instructions re not having a scratch on it etc, if I were you, I would take some photos, detailed ones, of the horse just prior to loading it on the lorry, email them to the buyer and get confirmation in writing that they are happy - or insist their rep checks the horse prior to it loading and signs something to say it is in the condition they want.

Only because depsite me going over and over my lorry with a fine tooth comb, my horse has developed an outstanding ability to scratch his face on something in it every so often when I travel him.

yes good point, the drive has to sign for all the documents i give so will get him to sign horse is in perfect condition etc.

its in a childish sort of way kind of exciting, selling aboard!

i dont think it is a scam, just someone planted the seed and i was like oh poop..
