Firstly sorry for the rant, but I am so annoyed right now!

Basically, yesterday a gelding was put out with the grass liveries, who normally just shares a field with his owner's other gelding. Turned Wings out into the field this morning, and he seemed ok, prancing about and showing he was the boss, but not much else.

Well, went to get him in at about 3:30, and he was stressing out massively, galloping at the gelding, and generally getting himself worked up. Now, normally, I wouldn't mind another horse being put in the field, but there are two mares in the same field, both of whom have come into season recently.

All of the geldings know that Wings is the boss, and stay well clear of him and the mares, but this gelding kept on trying it on, causing Wings to gallop around in fairly deep mud.

I just find it so annoying, as he does get stressed easily, and can cause him to be impossible to handle (acts like a stallion), and causes his windsucking to go out of control.

Oh, and just to top things off he came in absolutely covered in wet mud, rugs completely soaked. Was supposed to be going to a show jumping competition tomorrow, but has been cancelled. Only found this out after I'd bathed him though

Also, the girl who's been riding Monica for me at the minute, decided to get her in at about 10:30 today, and keep her in until I had to turn her out at about 4! I know some horses are happy being in, but I arrived to see a very stressed out pony, with no hay at all

Only thing I'm taking from it, is that I know have a remarkably clean horse, and luckily managed to borrow two of my sisters' horse's rugs

Oh, and he doesn't appear to be lame... at the minute

Sorry but I have to say rather smugly...I am so glad I keep mine at home! Sorry you had a pants day, frustrating I would think. If I kept mine on livery I think I would end up a stressed out headcase lol!

2 Years ago I was waiting to import a horse from UK to Norway so kept the horse on my sisters large livery yard (30 odd horses) until she was shipped over to me. I went over for a month that summer on a holiday and ohh my I was soooo glad to get home and back to my yard. Every time I put a headcollar down it disappeared, no privacy, no time in the school alone. It was at that point I realised how lucky I was and never ever to moan about the maintenance or cost of having my own farm ;-)

The joys of being on livery. I can't dictate who goes in field at yard tho I do expect to be given warning when new horse going in to be given the chance to boot up my lot if needed.
Is this horse put in your field as a permenant resident or just for the day as if latter that would p me off but if permenat well would just get on with it annoying tho it is

Vixxy, don't even start with the stealing, annoys me so much. And I am jealous, it is my dream to have my horses at home

fjordhorsefan, don't worry, I will be having serious words! It's not just me she's annoying, she's supposed to do jobs around the yard in order to get a free lesson once a week, and she didn't even do the jobs she was supposed to. YM was fuming

TequilaMist, the thing is, it's just for the weekend I think, because his owner is taking the other gelding to a show tomorrow I think, so has been keeping him in a stable, so Jerry (the gelding causing the problems), would be in the field alone. Just annoyed that he had to go in the same field as Wings

Then I would be really annoyed(prob ranting annoyed!!) as I hate folk upsetting stable herds just for the odd day as obviously risk of injury to horses just for the sake of that short stay.I actually think its quite a selfish act

Yeah, that's why I'm so mad. Hopefully, when I go and turn him out in a little while, he won't be lame. Unfortunately, I'm having to turn him out in the same field as yesterday, because otherwise I think he would jump fences to get to "his" mares
