Just had a girl send me a message asking if i know of any horses for part loan. Told her not sure but will keep my eye out and most will want money towards upkeep off horse. She then sent me a message saying
" am more interested in giving the time and effort rather than the money yano"
I couldnt help but laugh and informed her how much it costs to keep a horse and everything it includes.

Do some people live in a dream world?

lol, wow. some people just don't have sense do they? :D
there are some people that will do rides in exchange for jobs but those people are far and few inbetween..

good luck to her finding a free part loan *gulp* :|

I've had a number of shares whereby I've not contributed financially, but I am reliable, and not rubbish (not amazing by any stretch of the imagination) and have provided the time and effort input to keep a horse fit for the owner to then enjoy as they please when they DO have some time available.

I might be just very lucky, but they do come up!

I wouldn't want to loan/ share my horse exactly but would welcome help from someone in exchange for some riding / possibly training and competing too if the right person & no financial contribution required. I'd like an April Blossom, 'reliable & not rubbish & willing to put time & effort in'.

I've had non-paying shares too, sometimes people just need the help which I am more than happy to give:) I don't mind paying my way (and also helping out on top) when I can, it's just that I can't right now.

When I was in the midlands the attitude was I have too many horses to ride i'll either pay someone to ride on or let someone ride for free (help with chores sometimes or odd bag of feed or shoes if needed). Moved back down to Surrey where i'm afraid the attitude of the majority seems to be to make money out of their horses.

Don't get me wrong I know there are many out there that need financial help and sharing is a good way to do this but equally there are those out there actually making money (and before you shoot me down yes I have my own and know how much they cost, i've also been head girl for showing yards etc).

I ride 2 horses for free and count myself very lucky, think some people do just want the help and some days off from mucking out, suits me fine! if it turned out they needed any contribtion in the future would happily pay what i could afford :D
