OK... in breif i share Maggie but owner is currently away in France. Maggie is on grass assisted livery. She is suposed to be brought in in the morning, rug taken off and hayed/ watered and then turned out in the evening with rug on or left for me to turn out if i'm riding.
They also skip out.

So today went down to the yard expecting horse to be in... horse not in. Go down to field ...can't find horse... see her little head looking out of a bush go and look she has managed to walk between the fence and the ditch but then couldn't go any further as another ditch and bush. So carefully try and back her up, she doesn't want to... find out she has got her bum completly tangled in the thorns so put myself inbetween the thorns (ouch) and her bum... ask her to back up (should note that this horse doesn't kick!) and she does. Manage to turn her round and get her out. Brilliant!
Note the two massive poos in the small space she has been standing...

Take her down to the yard and take her rug off... find that she is completly soaked in dry sticky sweat... she has been in her light weight turnout all day (temp today 27degrees!). She's also starving (she's not normally greedy) so go and get her some haylage and fill her water up... drinks half a big bucket! Spend the next hour getting rid of all the sticky sweat and lose hair....

Spoke to yard girl and she said that she didn't think Maggie had been brought in today as the yard has a big show so they try and leave most of them out...

So poor Moo was left in the field all day in a rug in the heat and she got herself stuck for god knows how long. I'm so glad i went down today to see her! I just hope she wasn't in that rug since sunday night (didn't go down mon.)

I'm so annoyed... we pay the yard good money to look after her as we both work full time. We trust them with her, but clearly we cannot. I'm going to ring them up tomorrow and speak to the livery head... do you think i'm over reacting being really annoyed? its not right though... she was in such a state!

My god I wouldn't have waited until tomorrow I would have gone and had a benny Show or no Show. They have a duty of care that you are paying for

I would have taken pics on mobile and printed off and asked them to explain.

You paid for a service and it wasn't carried out. If they were leaving her out they should have contacted the owner (or you if the owner has instructed them to do so in their absence) AND still checked on her.

I was questioning my judgement... when i talked to the yard girl she really wasn't bothered! just told me not to get hay over the yard as the posh show was on!

Right will have a go tomorrow! and tell owner... so she can have a go to!

I just felt so bad for Maggie. I wish i could go up tomorrow lunchtime and check her. Luckily my instructor is riding her and i trust her to makke sure she is OK

Poor Maggie

Is she ok now?

I would be Raging and would have complained there and then

I wouls also be looking to move yards as clearly they can't be trusted to look after her when you aren't there

I know... there was no one around apart from a working pupil. and she realllyyy didn't understand!

Texted my instructor she also came back with what you guys are saying (and she works there) she's riding Maggie tomorrow so i will get her to double check her over. She also said to ring tomorrow, not acceptable!

I would have been well pissed off, do these people think they are doing you a favour, it's not a charity, your paying good money for a service, fortunately the poor animal was ok and not seriously hurt.

I don't think you are over reacting, apart from that she was not brought in as arranged, how come nobody had checked her or noticed she wasn't in the field safe?
Poor Maggie, she must have been scared to be trapped there especially when it was so hot. Hope she's ok.

I know... luckily she is the calm sort so hadn't tried to climb into and out of the ditch or fallen sideways into the ditch... she was happy to see me though! And was very happy to have some haylage and water

She is in with alot of other horses so if the staff were rushing around she would not have been spotted. She was hidden behind a hedge. Still no excuse.

The yard also has a very big show on this week so i know i will just get the excuse of we don't bring them in cause its a big show.... but they should have taken her rug off at the very least. I will be having words. Just checking with the owner that there were any special arrangements for the show days (ie they do not bring in) i don't believe there were but need to check.
