...when they're boasting about their child's riding ability

My Mum's friend has two grandchildren that live very near the yard and as they've been riding for nearly two years I agreed to let them share Cop once she'd been broken in. Was assured that they were great riders, very confident etc. Anyhoo - saw them ride last night and OMG

The poor RI - I have never seen kids with so little balance. They have to bve kept on the lead rein or they gallop off but they just can't stay on.

So now I'm left with a pony I'm abt to break in and no one to share her

They would have been ideal because I know the family well.... I'm tempted to lose a bit more weight and just ride her myself.

LOL I had the same carry on when we were selling my daughters pony - one kid came, stood about 6 ft away and had to be TOLD to come and speak to the pony - couldn't get away fast enough. Then there were the muppets who didn't want to see the pony ridden - just wanted their child to get on with no preconceptions about the pony! If you can, lose the weight.....

the problem is she's an 11.2 Section A so I can only ride her in the school. If someone saw me riding her they'd prob call the RSPCA

If the children have been having regular lessons for 2 years WHY can't they ride? Are they stupid? Got some physical problems?? OR, and this is a thought, have they just been appallingly taught??

No I know the instructor - the kids just have no balance at all. They can stay on ok if they take it steady but if they come of the LR they just want to gallop everywhere. Not suitable for a freshly broken in pony!!

Poor kids, too. If they keep hearing that they're so good they'll probably have the highest opinion of themselves and won't readily improve. I'd say put an ad out for a very small, competent teen and vet/interview them just as you would for a job position.

When I was a child I (and my friends) were ADVANCED riders due to our fortnightly or sometimes non-existent lessons and brilliance..yes I could walk trot canter that was it (and fall off)

the shame...what a prat I was lol Now I am a total novice
