Sorry feel the need to rant (at myself - lol)
Got to yard tonight at a reasonable time (for once) it wasn't raining (for once) and the school was free (pretty unheard of) I'd even worked out a proper plan for what I was going to work on.
Cue 5 yr old mare of mine - came in ok but was fretting like mad when I put saddle on and something had spooked her as she was all rolling eyes and poo. Anyway, moved her outside (better) and got on with things. Got to school and she bucked and bucked like an idiot - sent her on and she did it again, (rodeo horse!) but she was really scared rather than naughty. Tried to calm her down by being quiet and soft with her but no avail. Anyway to cut a long story short - I got off and lunged her. Got back on again after that but was too tense to do much but trot work as she was still being an idiot. So I took her in.
So cross with myself now for not riding her through it - feel like proper idiot and wimpy rider that horse takes p out of! GRRRRRR
