When I’m not riding I usually carry my left shoulder very slightly, but noticeably higher than my right, as does my father. It gets really tense when I’m stressed, or its cold or I need to do loads of typing. It can be really painful. I mainly sleep on my right. I find Obilicious’ hips exercise easier when lying on my left.
My instructor has given me a couple of horse back exercises that help me lower it and shift it back to where it belongs for riding. My left foot hangs beautifully(ish) with the heal down and the stirrup on the ball of the foot. My right toe points down like a ballerinas and the stirrup climbs up towards my ankle. I twist in on the left rain, particularly in canter or when asking for the transition up from trot. My instructor recons the problem is really my left hip and made that noise mechanics make when repairing your car is going to cost more than buying a new one.
Given that I cant really get a new hip (I’m 25) has anyone got any suggestions to stop me twisting in and to sort out my right foot.

I'd actually suggest that the problem is more on your right hip. You said your right foot tenses and your heel won't drop. That indicates tension in the right side / hip. We work on diagonals too so your left shoulder is probably responding to this right hip tension. I'm suggesting this because I have similar issues and my right hip is the source. I had Alexander Technique lessons which helped to straighten me out and really helped me to recognise where I was holding tension in my body.

Thanks. I did see an osteo for a bit, admitedly about a decade ago. He said he'd never met someone with such good muscels below the waist but rubbish upper body strength and proscribed lots of expensive return visits.

I'm not suprised HHO sugests medical intervention, I just wanted to explore my options before opening my wallet.
