I'm so fed up with it. I won't hack out when it's this bad as all our hacking is roadwork and you can't hear cars coming not to mention horse eating plastic bags flying around! I read somewhere that we are going to have a cold dry winter this year, not wet stormy weather! Why can't they ever get their predictions right.

I know the feeling it's driving me nuts my horses are at home and our house is basically on its own surrounded by fields with woods opposite, so the wind always sounds really bad and we have no shelter from it so everything just gets blown about the yard, it looks a right state in the morning and have to go searching for stuff that has been carted round the place, and most of our riding is in open fields not enjoyable in the wind and rain just looked at the weather and Friday is about the only nice day at the moment:(

Same for us Friday looks like the only decent day, depressing isn't it!

I voted against riding yesterday! put the horse on the walker instead and the wind was blowing it around, so didn't even have to get it started before putting him on haha.

I read that it was likely to be a wet winter! really wish it would just be cold as my fields are by rivers so wet winters equal a lot of mud :(

I'd be happy for the wind to stay and dry up my fields but the rain can go away :mad3: only consolation is that due to weather the horse I have currently on box rest hasn't noticed as all the others are in too :D

I'm happy. I have been studiously ignoring the two feed buckets abandoned in my far field, as I didn't want to tramp through the mud to go and get them. They were back in my garden this morning.

Haven't ridden since Saturday! Plan to ride tomorrow but in ménage - horse not too steady in wind but if he has more time off it will only get worse:(
You know the ads which say doesn't need to be ridden very day - not true for my boy even though he gets turned out regardless at least for a few hours.

I have pretty much given up hacking at the minute. Straight out onto roads on a youngster in the high winds is not much fun. I am managing to ride most evenings I the outdoor but don't want to make him stale so trying to vary his work. Roll on spring!!

I am looking at it positively for now. the muck heap is sheltered so does not blow around so the wind sweeps the yard and blows the leaves into corners whick makes them easier to collect. when its wet its a lot more uncomfortable to work in

It's driving me crazy!! My mare is so spooky to ride in the wind so riding isn't productive as we get no where, there is also a load of tarpaulin around the school which she is terrified of in the wid . She is getting more and more energy and lunging does not make a slight difference to her, I want summer back!! :(

I viewed a new horse yesterday in high wind and rain. Was certainly a great way to test his temprement! Have a vetting booked 😀

Big fat snap!
Absolute nightmare. Ive now fallen into a vicious circle of "they have had however many days off, I'm not getting back on today in this wind" and so on....
I'm wading through mud and flood water to get to the dry areas of retired horse and friends field with sacks of hay for it to promptly blow away again.
Poor daughter got mown down and dragged though mud today by freaked out horses in the mud.......come back frosty cold winters!

I found my lad is less spooky in the wind than normal.. He can't single anything out to have a good old spook at everything is blowing!

Went for a pub ride on sat - think the locals thought we were bonkers sitting out in the pub garden eating our sandwiches.

The wind has been pretty bad lately but don't worry I'm sure it won't last forever lol

Those who want a cold dry winter I'm with you but winter doesn't actually start until 21st December so there's still time yet. Apart from the last couple of weeks autumn has been pretty easy, a few weeks ago it was 15 degrees

I'm in exactly the same position, unfortunately I live on a boggy Peak District moor where the winds are brutal, no menege, fields are v wet and boggy and it's constantly raining :( snowed a few weeks ago so couldn't even go on the road

just been outside to do last hay nets and the wind has dropped but it's now pouring with rain, I am supposed to have a lesson on Wednesday the menage will be like a river by then if it carries on, I feel like just giving up riding until it calms down, I hope your daughter is okay I have been knocked over in the mud it's not nice and almost impossible to get up, luckily my gate has hard standing around it and my horses do come to the gate thankfully.
