I can't believe it. G is on box rest and bute at the moment due to a hock problem - could be bruised/sprained or might be spavin.

So I still go there twice a day to feed him, clean his feet, give him his bute, top up his hay etc. Tonight I took a packet of xxx mints over there as he likes the xtra strong ones as a treat now and then. I give him ONE maybe every day or every other day, especially while he is and feeling a bit down.

I put the packet (had about 2 missing as I ate them, and there are 18 in a packet!) on the little ledge outside his normal stable (Since we lost our mare, he is in her stable using up the bedding). This was fine because I had him tied up outside his current stable but the problem came when a neighbouring horse kept licking his bum (like he does - soft TB!) and G being grumpy on box rest, double barrelled (he never does this!), so I moved him across to outside his own stable forgetting that I had put the mints on the ledge outside that stable. I was flustered from him getting peed off with the TB so didn't notice them. I went back to carry on mucking out and heard chomping and crunching and thought 'that can't be his feed because it's only chaff!'. I went out and G was foaming at the mouth, quite literally. I immediately looked at the ledge and the mints had GONE

OMG. Even though the evidence was there that he had eaten them I still kept looking for them - maybe he just managed to get 1 and the others had dropped somewhere (though quite how he'd have got one out of the packet is beyond me now!). I stuck my hand right in his mouth to try and get the mints/paper out, but the sod had swallowed it

He's eaten 16 xxx mints complete with the paper wrapper

The YO is keeping an eye on him, but his version of keep an eye is check him when he goes out there tonight and in the morning. I am really really worried. All sorts of things going through my mind here.

What a little sod!

And that is the story of how George the horse managed to out-wit his owner, Carrie.

The end.

PMSL! Phew! Little monster. When my husband told the YO, the YO's 18 year old son and his gf were peeing themselves laughing. My husband kept coming up to G and in a really stupid, patronising voice 'you're a one aren't you. you're so cute'. At the time I could have punched the lot of them! It is quite a nice picture to have of him, though. Lol.
