Grrrrr

What did they do.

Waste my time!
I have two delightful ponies for sale, well horses really, small ones. They are advertised on H&H and Horsemart, and a few other websites, they get loads of hits, and on horsemart are lots of peoples 'top horse' and have loads of 'likes', yet I have only had two calls, one each, and both said they would call me back today, and to expect them to view this weekend, did anyone call me back... no they did not! And I made sure I was free all weekend for viewings.
One pony had a viewing, they had him vetted, he passed, they put down a deposit, then changed their mind just before they collected him - nightmare! And said pony is a saint!
Selling is hard work these days!
Rant over :S

Hi
Yes I know exactly what you mean.
I have pretty much seen everything horse selling.
I had someone have a foal vetted then back out later even though she passed. I have had a horse returned (they cut the wire and put her back in my field whilst I was at work) then cancelled the cheque. I waited for a vet coming to vet a horse I had sold and he never came, the purchasers changed their mind cancelled him but were so rude they did not tell me. I have had numerous no shows people hours late and people expecting to ride a 2 year old.
I have now stopped breeding so I do not have to tolerate it any more.

What a nightmare! I'm so sick of it, have previously met some lovely buyers who couldn't have been more perfect, I wish more of them existed! I don't mind if people try the horse and decide its not what they are looking for, I just with they wouldn't say they are going to turn up or call, and then not do so, its so rude. I'm seriously grumpy!!

you poor thing! Im so glad that I haven't had this problem yet, although my friend just recently sold his mare and had some right spannas wanting to come and see her, he clearly stated that she can only be a companion due to leg injury, and he had people ringing asking if she could do eventing!

Indicative of the current dire horse market I am afraid......
My son was doing a jig tonight after having received a call about the 2yo pony he has for sale - He said the price and the potential buyer has booked in at the w/e to see the pony? But (a) will they turn up and (b) If they do will they pay the original price - or try to negotiate?
We are talking bottom end of market here - so it might work out OK
Scenario - Son bought a terribly skniny 2yo colt (alledgely Connermara) at a sale in June for £20.
During July -Sept - he wormed the colt (£20) gave it masses of grass (we won't cost as home grown, but if it was at livery - what £10 min a week....say on the conservative side (£100) Then in August (when the animal had put on enough weight to stand the operation) he had the colt gelded (£150)
The pony has flourished and now really does look as if it has Connemara blood, and has gone from grimy grey - to a very attractive red headed roan with flea bitten markings.
Son thinks that £250 for the pony is a result.......I am trying to point out that it has cost him about £200 in real costs - not to mention our grass and time - £500 would be a more realistic price - but who is going to pay that for a halter broken scraggy(ish) 2 year old pony?
