GRRRRRR So hard not to say anything!!!

sorry yes, Full .

well then, you can offer help or to show the owner things if she is there but really you should not be taking it upon yourself to do things with the horse when she is not there as it is the YO's responsibility. Sorry to sound harsh. I dont understand why people have horses and then put them on full livery though. I would never even consider part livery unless I really had to and I dont even like asking someone to get mine in just once or anything.

full livery or not i wouldn't be getting involved!
if you groom the horse without owners permission and you get hurt then it's going to be your tough luck if you end up off work and losing money! if she asks for help then show her how to do it then make her take over, she'll never learn if everyone keeps doing everything for her.

Im not going to groom without permission - if she shows up was going to give horse a brush to show her the basics!! Oh & wont be going anywhere near her back end either;)

Should have made that clear in your opening post. You said "Later when I go up I will prob give horse a brush just to make her feel semi wanted as feel so bad for her" which implies you were just going to do it.

So the horse is on full livery - therefore is totally cared for.
The beginner-rider is having lessons on the horse - good.
She turned up expecting it to be tacked up - some people do expect that in full livery.

Don't really get the problem. So what if she doesn't go up every day so long as she's paying for full livery?

i do.
and that's because i have a career that takes me abroad a lot so i can earn enough to pay for my horses and i want them to have a regular daily routine never mind what im doing work wise.

sometimes personal circumstances dictate how we keep our horses.

You don't have to understand it. Just accept that people have different lives, and different constraints and demands on their time.

agreed.

when i worked at a livery yard in London the owners would tell us when they were coming and we'd have the horses tacked up groomed and waiting for them. If they want it, its part of the service.

some owners turned up once a month or even less as their work dictated or as they want,. It doesnt matter, exercising is also part of a full livery service.
it might not be how YOU'd keep your horses but some people really do just want and have the money to turn up and ride and then throw the reins at the groom , get into the car and leave.

NOt how most of us on here would probably like things done for them but i promise you, this is far from unusual. Cant really see what the fuss is about.

Girls parents' have more money than sense and like to spoil her.

yes its a bit daft but hey, ho..

Dont worry, horse will probably leave next month when she's bored and it gets sold.

I have mine on full livery Mon-Fri, means that I can have a horse and not worry about work taking me away and my many other responsibilities. I can understand why people don't but it is a bit obtuse not to understand why people may need their horses basic needs looked after for them while they may be working etc?

okies so where I am and have been in the past FULL livery is full as in all week and PART is week only and you do your own horse at weekends. I know people who have completely full livery so never actually do anything (including weekends). I understand people who have "part" livery for the weekdays whilst theyre working or have to go away, just not the people who can go down but dont. am entitled to my opinion and I did say that I would consider part livery if I really had to (i.e. meaning workwise):D and I probably should have put "some" people. Not all, so no offence intended to those who are making out im thick and I dont understand someone wanting the horses basic needs cared for while they are working. I work full time and am on DIY and mine still has his routine though I understand it is more difficult for others.

Ok so reckon I have come across as if Im being interfering & Nosey - which I can assure you am not. Anyhow, will continue to help when she asks & hope that things do start to improve for the horse.

I think I need to toughen up & stop getting emotional about a horse that isn't mine

See now if I had my horse on full livery I would be really annoyed if I had to tack up myself, or groom etc. Maybe the reason the horse is on full livery is because she doesn't like all those 'messy' jobs and just wants/only has time to ride?

If your friend works on the yard then surely she knew the horse was likely to kick, she shouldn't have been near the back end putting a rug on and then she wouldn't have been kicked into the wall.
