Don't know what it is lately but my mare just can't seem to keep her shoes on!
She has always had excellent feet but in the last few months her feet have gone very brittle and she is literally loosing a shoe nearly every week especially on her back feet. Ive put it down to us having such a wet summer.
I have her on NAF pro feet supplement and have fed her dengie happy hoof for the last few months. Someone suggested I try NAF rock hard.
I could take her back shoes off as they seem to be worse off but the ground we ride out on has quite rough and stone tracks that arent really avoidable :/ I'm worried about how well she would cope.
Any advice greatly appreciated :(

You could remove her back shoes and try hoof boots
Iam sure she would be fine bare behind as most of the horses weight is threw the front feet so she should manage fine

Mine has overreach boots on 24/7, pain cleaning underneath them when bringing in when it's muddy though, I have been through Kevin bacon hoof oil like mad when the weather is hot and bone dry, this last 5 weeks I decided to try a different way, the ground bone dry and dusty, instead of moisturizing, I treated with Keratex Hoof Hardner wall and sole, farrier advised to put on regular, guess what, went a whole 5 weeks without shoes coming loose and soles nice and firm/hard, think I might try using hoof hardner all the time wet or dry ground and see how that pans out.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to invest in some OR boots and try the hoof hardner.
I think a combination of soaking wet one second and baking hot the next over the summer has left her hooves brittle abd soft. Plus my mare is such a clumsy little madam she regularly steps on herself :D
