There is one woman at our yard who has to comment on everything... and I mean everything. When a friend clipped her traddy cob out she was whispering loudly how awful he looked. Once said young cob started doing some jump work she would drop snide comments when walking past I was watching her and overheard " is it even worth bothering" youngster just got a bit flat and ploughed into the jump, hey he is learning. She constantly sticks her head in everyone else's tack room, food room, stable etc. just to see what they are doing and what condition they are in before boasting about her own. Do you know what the ironic thing is ??? she never rides her horse, drags him out for a show when he is ridden on the day :o in-between that he is plonked in the field. Anything you do and are happy about she has done better and will tell you this... Just a grumble at backseat 'riders'.

You need to get together when she is walking past and then whisper loudly how ugly she is!

It's tempting ! At a show last year she was tearing into some children for walking their ponies near her lorry.... she parked near a gate that narrowed and had to be passed quite close. I was tempted to stick my shavings fork up her bottom but OH informed me that's assault ? who knew...

Never mind, at least you're getting your own back by gossiping / commenting / tattling on here about her:D

I sorely miss out on gossiping there is only 3 of us at the yard ;) have to make up for it some how !

You always get one on a yard, it's when they come in pairs that its a problem.

I think a pitchfork accidently finding its way to her bum is a good one. I'd like to grease their wellies and trip 'em up by the muckheap.

Lol every yard normally has at least and heaven forbid if you get a "herd" of them. Always just best to blank them out but im not good at taking my own advice as a simliar situation stopped me riding at yard . Just ate at my confidence which wasnt best at time. hey ho :)

Been on yards like this and there is always one normally all the same talk the talk but never see them ride their horse or if they do it's when no-one is around reason why I bought my own place got sick of them butting their nose in to everyone's business

This is one of the only times I actually have some real balls, lol. People like this don't do it around me. I hear bitching among a group about someone and I will look at them all, laugh and say, "are you all 10 years old? I've not heard gossip like that since junior school". When I hear someone criticise another I will come straight out with something to shut them up. A criticism of a livery where I am last year that was about the fact that she was too big for her pony...I said, "but she's not too big for her boots like you sweetheart".

I don't know why, but I cannot ever stand up for myself. Standing up for others though...no problem. I actually quite enjoy it :-)

Oh no I'm guilty of wearing jods today but I didn't ride! In my defence I just didn't get around to it after my new loan horse arrived and had lots to do I hope I'm not an equichav :S

Sounds like the buneaters you get in walking country. All dressed up in the latest mountain gear but walk no further than the car to the cafe (I may be a tiny bit guilty of sitting in cafes myself though!).

Oh my God, I am a bun eater! I've had a scone in every National Trust property from here to Cornwall!

The one near us does the most amazing cheese scones.

Sorry, off to stop hijacking the thread now.

Back on topic, you learn who to avoid. For me it's the doom and gloom mongers. You turn up bouncy and full of cheer and if you let yourself get cornered by one you're ready to chuck it all in within about 2 minutes. A yard I was on had 2 of these.

She is an Equichav dressed to ride 98% of time , talks about it all the time ... never rides.

Equichav is inspired - do you mind if I borrow it?

Equichav/pony club mum from hell has finally moved off the yard - all gear-no-idea whose daughter is 'an amazing rider' despite being afraid of riding her own pony. She also had an opinion on everyone's horse or pony and its management and a nasty temper too. The yard is soo much more relaxed now, no more stepping on egg-shells and nodding politely to keep the peace :D

I live in my jods, despite almost never having the time/money to ride. Young horses eat both of these things. Jods are very comfy and the dog ate my jeans, so...:)

I'm always in jods too and I can't ride my three oldies! Just find that they are uber comfy and don't get snagged when I'm always having to climb over electric fencing!! Also means I can keep all my other stuff for non horsey uses - I'm not the tidiest of horsey people and I'd wreck my nice stuff if I wore it near the boyz.
