Apologies this is quite long but need some advice about my mare.
About 3 months ago we moved yards, she has 24/7 turnout (apart from a couple weeks during the heavy rain when she had to be in overnight), on moving she was a little stressy around the yard but nothing too bad.
She was put in a field with 2 other mares, 1 is in during the day, the other was out 24/7 usually. A couple weeks ago the mare who was constantly out with her left, so she is now in a paddock on her own (horses right next door in other paddocks though)
When this mare left T got extremely agitated when coming up onto the yard, so much so she would visibly tremble and not stand still at all, constantly paw at the ground (shes done this the 2 years I've known her when she is bored, but not to this extent)
I called the vet out after a week cus she wasn't improving at all, and she's been put on regumate in case its linked to hormones. Her behaviour has improved regarding the trembling/agitation
So I thought that was everything sorted.
However, the last few days shes been moody in the field, she starts alking towards me but with her ears back, and yesterday she ran off and did a circle around me with her ears flat back. She has also become more nippy.
Finally recently she has started getting girthy when it comes to having the roller and her saddle on (found out on the weekend the saddle doesnt fit, which might explain her biting the air when doing girth up)
Was just wondering if people think this is normal behaviour for a mare in season (shes never really had a season) or if it might be something else? Worried it might be ulcers :/
Thanks for any help, and chocolates for all who read this far
