My mare seems really grumpy at the moment. She pulls faces when groomed, rugged, go near stable door but not when saddle is put on. Grooming is worse, she is a proper stropper! Tail swishing and teeth snapping. Is it a mare thing or time of year or is she telling me something but Im damned if I know what it is.

Oddly enough she doesnt mind her tack. Stands to have saddle on and drops her head and opens her mouth for the bridle. It really has me stumped why she's such a grouch to groom.

abby has been a wee cow recently wi getting her rugs on, i think its just the time of year too, lots of people seem to be feeling it

Mine is a nightmare at the moment - sooo grumpy and unlike her!! Had her back checked and she did have some issues would could cause some but i also think its hormonal...

Have put her on Oestress supplement to see if that makes a difference lol

Another one with a nightMARE!!!
Bramble (shire x dutch) is a complete pain in the rear. She is usually grumpy but this is beyond grumpy. A couple of weeks ago she had a tantrum and fell over on the lunge, then she was lifting her hindlegs and snapping at her riders other half. Shes snapped at her rider a few times as well. Thinking of changing her name to megagrump!!

My mare is a grumpy moo when it comes to being groomed so we often go out with muddy bits as she HATES getting the inside of her back legs brushed. She will also have a snap at me when doing up the front of her rug. It's reassuring to know there are other grumpy mares out there. If they all got together it would be hormone hell!
