Grumpy when not being ridden?

Anyone else find their horse is grumpy if they aren't being ridden? Mine has had a week and a half off with a foot abscess and he is a right grumpy git at the moment! When ridden he is lovely and soppy in the stable with me. He was like this over winter when he had his break, grumpy and aloof! Strange creatures!

Yes! I used to have a horse just like that. He would become really unpleasant and hard to manage if he wasnt being ridden, but ride him everyday and he would be quite sweet. Saying that he liked his routine to be just so, so maybe it was the routine being out as much as the riding..

The foot might be hurting too to be fair... 1/4 of a horse is a *LOT* of pressure on a sore bit! Although routine can be good. Maybe feeling neglected/bored!

My Section A is awful if she isn't worked regularly, she becomes moody, marish and can be quite nasty, when in work she is as happy as larry
