My GSD/Mali bitch is six months old. She has been a delight so far - as an owner of lurchers, whippets & terriers for the past 25 years, it’s wonderful to have a dog whose spatial awareness is not on a par with the aforementioned breeds😉. My concern is that she has a habit (?) of bringing a rear leg up & kicking straight out behind, almost like a nerve twitch/pain. Conformation wise, she moves a tad too close behind for my eye (is this a breed thing?). Standing out she looks fine - no cow hocks, straight back etc. No lameness or agility issues either. Any ideas?

You could get prelims done but the joints won't be fully formed and you won't get full picture until 12 months. Go to a vet who does x-rays for scoring with BVA or SV.
I've known dysplastic shepherds and none have done that.

A lot of dogs move close behind. Remember that walk is the most unforgiving gait and that's where you'll judge what's wrong, if anything.
