My friend tragically and suddenly lost her 9 y/o GSD last week. It turns out she had cancer:(

She's left with her other dog, a GSD puppy and is thinking about that cancer and then what is the best quality food.

She's not at the Raw stage yet

and is looking at Orjen or Taste of the Wild?

I can't help because I don't know anything about kibble any more.....

Pup is currently on Wellbeloved.

Orijen would be best, she could also look at Fish4Dogs or Arden Grange, which was initially made for GSDs and is produced by a GSD breeder.
Prize Choice and Natural Instinct also do more palatable raw options.

Being a Raw feeder I'm a bit lost re puppy food versus adult food as I'd make the differece by portion control or size of the bones

In Kibbleworld....what's the diff in puppy food to adult?

Our 8month Lancashire Heeler puppy is on Origen and raw, she is so fussy and has 3 days of raw, then sardines,Origen and then back on to raw. We did try her on Fish4puppies but she never really liked it.

Orijen is an amazing food but so expensive, if I fed my Dobes on it would cost about £70 per week.

The Orijen red meat formula is 75% premium animal ingredients 25% fruits, veg & botanicals and 0% grain. The red meats are never frozen wild boar, lamb, heritage pork and Bison raised free range on local farms and delivered fresh.

Orijen poultry, fish an whole egg formula is 80% premium animal ingredients 20%veg,fruit & botanicals. Nothing is frozen and contains free range chickens & turkey, wild caught fish and whole eggs.

Its a Canadian company and won best pet food of the year 2009-2010 & 2010 - 2011 so a premium food which is probabley better than a lot of people eat.
