Has anyone any experience of using Guardian Eye masks. My horse has recurring Uveitis and have been researching what i can do to help him. I found these by chance and read the testemonials. Any one used them, any experience?

My horses suffers with it too, i have the field one and the one you can ride in. And to be honest it really hasn't made a difference, he still has the same flare ups as he had without one. I keep his on all the time in and out of the stable. The only thing that helps my horse is bute, the eye returns to normal within 12hrs. Good luck its horrible i worry everytime he has a flare up.

I know how you feel, mine has only just been diagnosed after 4 years. I now have him on half a bute a day as they are the only thing that helps him. Even the drops didn't work this time. The Guardian mask will help when he is having a flare up as it blocks out 95% of the suns rays, so will help reduce the pain. But i doubt it will stop the attacks, well it hasn't for my boy.

Mine has the same condition and i decided against the guardian mask. I use a chashel one as its cheaper, easier to get hold of and I could ride in it aswell. It only offers 80% but that doesnt bother me greatly. My vet also prefers chashel for the same sort of reasons. When he has a flare up he has one with a patch to protect him from the light anyway so having one with 95% UV wouldnt make much of a difference. Mine is still having flare ups anyway (he's off to the AHT next time for research as he's an unusual case) and I doubt either mask would stop the flare ups so the choice is up to you :)
