Gucci Arab Scandal, anyone remember?

Ok, so I was talking to somebody who mentioned it and said that years ago there was an incident when a group of young arabs were found tied up in a barn with no food or water and all belonged to Gucci, have tried googling it but there is nothing that I can find on it and wondered if anyone remembers it?
 
Yes I remember. The property is a few miles down the road from me. I think the gyst of it was that Paolo Gucci died and his family grabbed the money. He lived in Rusper with his young girlfriend and their baby, but he died suddenly and as she had no control of finances, she quickly got into money trouble. The horses and the stud quickly went to ruin, not a real excuse as they had huge fields and the horses could have been eating grass. The horses and property were sold off at auction. I went to the auction and I can say they were not in poor condition at that time. You could see the facilities must have been mega once. Now they have built a few houses on the edge of the property. My friend has an ex-Gucci Arab, he is only 16 but has a lot of health problems, she blames that on his poor early years.
 
I remember it. Paolo died and his girlfriend remained in the house with her 2 children. Paolos second wife and the girlfriend became locked in a legal battle over finances. The RSPCA was called when locals saw what was happening and the girlfriend was charged and fined for cruelty to animals. A few of the youngstock had to be shot but the rest of them were nursed back to health and there was an auction a few months later to dispose of them. The horses were worth a small fortune and many celebrities bought them. There was no excuse for what happened as the girlfriend had been one of Paolos grooms so she knew her way around horses and should have cared for them correctly, if only to turn them out until the legal battle was over.
 
Oh my gosh, that's awful. My friend has one of them but she has always been a little highly strung, although she was a fantastic race horse! Thanks for your help
 
Yes I remember this too. The girlfriend was left with no money and no way to get hold of any so couldn't afford to feed the horses. I didn't know they had been kept inside when they could have been let out.

There was quite of lot of "taking of sides" about who was the guilty party.
