this is for fun really as I don't care either way as I love my boy dearly - but if there is anyone good with breeds out there - guess away :)

We got him from a Border Collie rescue place. He was approx 1 yr old, but had been picked up as a stray so we dont really know where he came from! I have always had collies, and he certainly has the intelligence and temperment....however my husband's 'expert' ( ;) ) brother insists he is half alsation, which I don't see at all (except maye the fact that he has pointy ears when he is excited?!

Anyway...feast your eyes on my gorgeous boy :)

The last pic looks like there's GSD in there, not because of the ears, but the overall body.

Border Collies can have prick ears, all of my dogs are pedigree Border Collies and 2 of them have prick ears.
 
I can see what your bil is saying. That said, the dogs trust had my girl down as GSD x collie. I can't see it myself (except the colouring maybe?)

looks like a collie to me - people get confused and assume they should all look like your classical black and white sheepdog but in reality they come in all shapes, sizes, ear alignments and colours.. its one of the things i love about the breed and detest about the kennel club breed rings (where they DO all look like clones:mad:) .

Trina, I think your dog could have some Toller in her. Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. The nose and face are similar and certainly having the bloomers on her back legs are also indicative. I would say GSD x Toller

She's definately an all sorts dog, thats for sure.
She's got nothing of a collie about her behaviour wise. definately no 'eye' and she finds games quite tedious. She's quite lazy really!
Her frame is quite lurcher like, very tiny waist and deep but thin rib cage (she used to climb through the cat flap!). She also runs like the wind when she feels like it - yet is content to chill out / sleep most of the time
I look at her eye and think of a retriever. They are so big and soft. She's also extremely biddable.
She hates water, and will stay hold her pee for hours if it's raining!
She definately is very wary of strangers, woofing at them (but accepting a good belly rub too). She likes to let us know (often quite randomly) if we have guests, that there be strangers in the house, interiupting conversations with a yodel. :D
Then, I was watching Lassie the other day and a few scenes really reminded me of her.
Who knows?? Fun to guess though.

OP - sorry to hijack your thread. Your guy is lovely, and I love the mystery of rescues. My girl was picked up as stray too (in Dumfries apparently). I firmly believe in fate :)

thanks! tbh, that was pretty much my thoughts on it. Having always had collies, he is the right sort of temperment - not that I am bothered either way, I love him to bits! Such a lovely dog, who everyone loves :D

His hearing is 'selective' lol - seriously, no problems as yet and he is about 8 yrs old.
