Meet Stanley who we have just rehomed;-
DSCF2973.jpg

He's two and only came in overnight as he had a home lined up.
Only Basset I've ever seen with blue eyes -they should be brown but gold is not uncommon.

Over a dozen Basset hounds came in to breed welfare this past week - all as singles.

Most are being matched up with prospective adopters but so many males at once can swamp the system of any breed rescue.

So is three pages of puppy adverts on just one free ads site.

About 10% of these are decently bred pets and the rest are bred just to sell. No papers, or papers not worth the paper they are written on, and no screening if this the the right breed for the purchaser.

Hearing seems ok.
Obviously not BAER tested but he responds to commands and vocal tone and is quite a biddable fellow.
I do try clicking fingers and a bike bell behind any hound that I suspect may have a hearing deficiency but the best behaved basset I've had in was completely deaf and could do a silver CGC test when he left here.

Another one is going out in the morning :)

I am used to that sort of thing in GSDs but had no idea there was such a problem in bassetts, its so frustrating isn't it.:(

Just had a lovely letter & photos from Stanley's new family.

They are thrilled with him, he hasn't put a paw wrong and sounds happy as a pig in ****.

Never mind the ears - just look at those feet  He looks like Charlie Chaplin :D

So pleased he's found a new home, he looks lovely and those eyes will get him far in life (and the biscuit cupboard) me thinks :D
