So we took our little pup home with us yesterday - Archie loves her but unfortunately for him we think she's pretty much all collie so his reign is not going to last very long! :D

She's from Ireland and was thought to be a Rough Collie x but i'm not convinced (and neither was her foster carer).....she chased a cyclist today (the wheels!) and herded a jogger  and she really does look like a long nosed Border. Her love of all things poo related to roll in lead me to believe there may well be some terrier in there but I'll let you lot decide!

She's apparently about 6 months (got one puppy tooth left) and she seems far too small to be a rough collie x? Maybe a sheltie though.

Anyway here are a few pics.

She won't sit still for too many photos....there's a surpise for a collie! :D

Looks mostly border collie to me - can't see any rough collie or sheltie there.

If you colour in classic border head markings her nose will appear a lot shorter.
How is her hearing?

Looks like a typical working sheepdog pup to me...they tend to have a lot of variety over here. Any idea what part of Ireland she came from?

That pup is almost identical to my uncles old sheepdog Captain... just a light brown patch instead of dark brown one...he was a great dog... loved to work and was a great dog with sheep and cattle and was absolutely mental about footballs :) lived to be 15 as well.

I dont see any rough collie or sheltie at all.

She is very cute, but she sounds as if she's going to make your life a lot more exciting :). I can only guess about her breed, sometimes they can look very alike so or so breed, without having a drop of such breeds in them. Based on the Collies and Shelties that I've seen (especially while I owned my Smooth Collie), there is nothing in my head that makes me think 6 months old Collie or Sheltie when I look at those pictures. But then perhaps she is from working lines? I've also met a purebred Sheltie that grew to be somewhere between a Sheltie and a Collie in size, so size can be deceiving, if you hypothetically to that add, someone focusing on breeding for too much white, then who knows...

That said, had you posted and said look at my cute, 6 months old purebred Border Collie puppy, I would have believed you.

It isn't only based on this, but I think it is her nose that makes my scales weigh over. I've seen several Border Collies with liver coloured nose, the Kennel Club's breed standard allows brown nose (even though too much white is a fault in this breed also), but as far as I know, even though liver coloured noses can occur in Shelties, it is both relatively rare and an undesirable trait, from their KC standard "Nose, lips and eye rims black." And for Collie, their KC standard says "Nose always black." So with that nose colour it seems to be more likely that she is a Border Collie or has Border Collie in her, rather than Collie or Sheltie.

Hi guys. ...I think she's pretty much border too....whatever she is, we've fallen for her already!! Aru not sure where she's from in ireland and sugar they did wonder whether she was deaf but turns out just selective hearing!
