Sorry they're big!

:D

I'm not sure about gelderlander, although its hard to tell as hes been out of work for 3 month and is a bit outta shape, not like all the gelderlanders on google images....:p

I thought tbish, and he was sold as a tb x. But apparently on his passport, which is French  it says 'pur sang' - I thought this meant pureblooded?:confused:

Thank you :D

Thoroughbreds as we know them are usually called 'pur sang anglais' but pur sang does mean thoroughbred, literally pure blood. Sounds a bit Harry Potter!

Maybe he is a French thoroughbred then. Handsome chap I like him :D

If it's a Selle Francais passport then yes, it means thoroughbred

:)

Full thoroughbred? :p

Thanks everyone, he is a lovely lad!

I will try and get some more pictures, I did think thoroughbred or thoroughbred x something irish. He is very tb-like, but I didn't think he was so thoroughbredy in the face!

Thank you :D:D

So is a Selle Francais effectively a French thoroughbred? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?:)

I'm pretty sure that a Selle Francais is a warmblood, i.e. tbx although sfs do tend to be very blood and have a high %tb.

To have 'par sung' in a sf passport means it is full tb.

ETA it also looks like he isn't branded which would fit with tb IF he has a sf passport

Isnt the Selle Francais register is a bit like the Irish sport register? Its their sport horse register. And like the ISH could be full TB or a cross of some sort. If it says Pure blood, he will be tb

Well I was going to say TB from the first picture so at least I can spot one. Spend too much time looking at the damn things :p

He's lovely and looks very French (my OH says all chestnuts look french, ) due to his orangeness :D

Thank you everyone!
Ohhh how exciting! :D
EKW - I'll get back to you on the passport name...
He's my new share horse, hes been out of work for 4 months due to a pelvic sprain, he's minus 4 shoes and footsore until tomorrow, lame in his back right leg (sure you can see in the pic ) due to a cracked heel.. nobody else wanted him! Poor thing :( Problems aside, hes settled in great, and even managed to prance to the field on his first day :D:D

My big lad is technically a racing Selle Francais - and yes he is chestnut! With a small white blaze but no socks lol! All through his mother side are chestnut as that is where the pure bred Selle Francais is. His father was also chestnut but he was a pure tb.

Sorry but not a Gelderlander (Gelders Paard) he does not have anywhere near enough length in the back. My first thought was DWB (as they have an injection of TB in them, which would shorten the back) but could be WBxTB. Hope you find out, he is a very nice looking horse.

my SF was chestnut too. But my OH has no way of knowing that they are predominantly ginger so no idea why he thinks orange horses look French. Lucky guess I suppose?
