When is yours?

Absolutely don't worry about plaiting - for a start a 2' main would prob be impossible to get into plaits, and would look much better running free. I have done a little judging at local level and I wouldn't care if horse was plaited or not.

You could try one of those running plaits if you are still concerned, although they need to be vaguely sown in otherwise tend to work their way undone about half way down the centre line! Can send you a pic if you don't know how to do one.

Definitely can't use pelham I'm afraid but borrow a hanging snaffle as that has some leverage.

And just enjoy it - no-one will notice what you do, they will all be too nervous worrying about their own horse - honest! Most important thing is that you and horse look happy, relaxed and forward. The outline comes later, IMO.

Thank you - am glad I don't need to worry about plaiting!! I just need to get my trotting diagonals sorted a bit more as because he has so much mane I can only see one shoulder...

Agree with the advice not to worry too much about plaiting...in my gallop test, the judge probably couldn't see me for the blur anyway

Re diagonals - practice schooling in walk then sitting trot, then look up at the ceiling (try not to crash) and take rising trot then try to feel if you are right or wrong. Check it visually and try again...you'll soon pick up feel.
(Health and safety warning: Do not do this exercise if your school is close to a cliff.)

Good luck you and well done for entering, you know how nervous and in a tizzy I was with mine, thinking we would get laughed at, what with me in my £2.99 ebay jacket - and well you know what happened! Everyone said to me relax and enjoy and it really is good advice - bit of rescue remedy helps too!

It'll be fun!!! My first test my pony took a fancy to the judge and stopped everytime we went past to look in the little box hoping to get a sweet!! I ended up giggling all throught the test
