*Gulp* here goes CC please

I have just read a book by a man who absolutely hates crest release, brilliant book called reflections on riding and jumping by William someone.... (can't remember his name but great book )

I have this problem, i have a tendency to 'over fold' and squash his neck (in my defence, I had a Caesarian with added bowel surgery 3 years ago so my core body strength isn't great) it's a horrible habit and I'm trying to stop myself doing it, it certainly doesn't help with his dangly back leg problem! I have a photo but its awful so I'm not sharing lol! Anyone got a picture of what they think the perfect showjumping position is?

Lol at you lot - I did wonder if it was kicking off this morning when I first looked :)
Tbh I've never heard the phrase 'crest release' so something else for me to worry about now !

The common theme throughout this thread is 'alcohol' so purely by that I'm going to try that method ;)

If YO can take pics tomorrow I'll get some of my jumping lesson and see if any advice sinks in.

Well as a last comment on the 'crest release' and the 'automatic release' I'd like to add the following pics and opinion.

These were taken on the same day, and the same rider (me). I think the release depends on the horse also. As a rider should be able to change their style of riding to accommodate the horse.

These were taken in Newcastle, Sydney. it was the same class with two young horses. One was very exhuberant in his jump, one was very unbalanced.

I see a crest release on one, and a auto release on the other. Does it really matter as long as the rider is in balance, and that the horses mouth is not being pulled.

Anyway, I just wanted to put these as I thought they were interesting. When I was looking through my old photos to find out if I do the same release I thought it was interesting as it varied from horse to horse so I wouldn't say I do one particular release, it just depends on the circumstances.

Not sure why my hat looks too big too!

And I still have the same lower leg problem on both!!

I've remembered, William Steinkraus, jumped in 5 olympics so he's a pretty good jockey :D
Might be a little old to be your next husband, was born in 1925.... ? :D

I also use both. Sometimes even on the same horse on the same day. Depends on what kind of jump I get I guess. Horse doesnt seem bothered either way!
