I've got to tell YO I'm moving the horses
frown.gif

I was going to do it last night, but as soon as she came home she asked if I wanted to come out for a steady hack. I said yes and her OH came with us with their dog, he also brought my dog with us as well....so now I feel SOOOO guilty - they've been so good to me

I've got to tell her tonight though cos I'm going XC tomorrow at the yard I'm moving to and YO wants to come too

I don't want the new YO to come out and say hi and old YO not know anything about it - it'll get too complicated.

I don't know how to tell her though - I'm dreading it!

Sorry - pointless post really I suppose

It's not £££'s - it's the school

Everything else is brill, but the school is rock hard and I can't do any jumping in it. I've tried moving my jumps to a paddock, but the ground there has been rock hard for months and as soon as it starts to soften up I'll have to take the jumps out so I don't ruin the paddock.

It wouldn't be a problem if I just wanted to hack and do a bit of schooling, but I want to do BSJA and I'm getting nowehere at the moment. If I stay there, I'm going to have to put my plans of jumping competitivley on the backburner, which I don't want to do

Hey old neighbour, I moved yard from Newbold Verdon to a lovely yard on my way to work in South Derbyshire. I thought having loads better facilities and it being on my way home would give me more time with the boy but it didn't so I have moved him back. I felt guilty leaving both yards but they took it well. I put off telling them both because of the guilt but once you do it there is a huge relief.

. So long as you're happy that's all that matters in the end. Good luck

Hi ex-neighbour

I'm sure once I've done it I'll feel loads beeter - but I know she's going to be gutted and I'm not sure she'll understand my reasons. Oh well...I suppose the worst that can happen is she gets upset and falls out with me (don't think that will happen). She might think I'm being ungrateful though

Thanks g_g! I wanted to get it over with last night, but couldn't bring myself to do it once her OH said he would bring my dog out on our hack! Why can't she just be horrible!

Hiya!!!! Didnt realise you wanted to move. But your reasons are valid and if it was my yard and you told me then I would completley understand, remember its her business and she has to take the rough with the smooth. It sounds like she is a good freind so Im sure she will understand, doesnt make it any easier though does it??

Good luck!

i'd tell her the absolute truth then, it sounds as if you wouldn't be going if the school was suitable.

I think that's what I'm going to do. I def wouldn't move if the school was ok, even though it's a bit small I'd put up with it because I like the yard. Hopefully she'll understand

Oh I am in exactly the same situation. I love my current yard but i am just not motivated enough, its not busy enough for me - not enough people. I love it otherwise. I have been trying to tell my YO for so long every time i go up to tell her i get the same, shall we go for a hack, do u want a cup of tea and i just feel dreadful about it. Lets do a deal, we should both do it tonight! I think we both just need to be honest AHHHHHH!!!!

Have you aked her to do something about the surface??

[/ QUOTE ]

She knows the reason I don't jump in there is because it's too hard. I've asked if she is going to do anything and she says she'd like to, but they've not really got the money and it's not really worth it for her as she only lunges in there now and then - doesn't really do much work in there. No other liveries use it (there are only 3 of us) so I don't think it's in her best interest to fork out really. She has said that previous liveries have been happy to jump in the school - I said they can do what they like with their horses! There is about an inch of sand (on the good bits) on top of a rock hard surface - I'm not exagerating! It's really stony as well

angeldelight - that's what happened last night! I' just need to pluck up the courage...I'm such a wimp!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

I know so am I, I so nervous just on the walk up there! :-( Good luck!

I would just make sure that she knows that the only reason is the school and that you are completely happy with everything else at the yard and would like to stay in touch and maybe pop up to see them etc - and ask if she would be happy for you to come back if new yard doesn't work out - that way she will know that there's no other reason for you going

Good luck

It's hard but once done you'll feel heaps better after all if you've got horsie to jump what's the point in paying out to do anything BUT !! I moved last year for very different reasons but managed to stay on OK terms by asking if loanee didn't work out/got out of financial pit could I go back - think that surprised them but meant no rows, etc. !!
