Harvey the spangle is at our agility class every week. He will never win any prizes for it (he's like a bull in a china shop when it comes to jumps :D) but he does it for fun and is very good at it. Hasn't affected his gundog training.

A friend of mine has a fully trained working gun-dog a Springer Spaniel and she has been coming to agility training with me. Her dog being very obedient has done everything asked of him and has jumped small courses in a training environment, we never intend to compete but just see it as a bit if fun.

Her husband who wasnt keen on his dog doing this has changed his mind as its made the dog more alert and sharper.

My trainer has a few clients who do gundog stuff in winter and then fun agility in summer to keep the dogs fit and occupied.:)

Thanks for your replies!! Looks like it doesn't do them any harm!! We have an agility class about to open about 1/2 mile away so I guess I better register!! Thanks again.

Both agility and gundog work need the dog to be switched on and responsive to the handler, and good and fit too, so they should compliment each other quite nicely. :)

I do it with my GSP. Did my 1st UKA show a few weeks ago.

Great fun and he's quite fast too!!!!
